If Taurus is working with you at all, then their customer service has improved since my experience 6 years ago. I guess it takes an exploding gun to get their attention!
Back in the time of when you first bought your Taurus, I remember at a revolver club I belonged to, some of the officers on the local PD bought some Taurus revolvers. There were at least 2 similar exploding guns that I know of, but there may have been more. A forcing cone issue does make sense.
An older man I know of locally tried selling me a Taurus .38spl with a 4" barrel for $80, unfired. I still wouldn't buy it. I'd rather spend the $125 for a good, used S&W M65 instead. That way, there's no question about quality. And, if there is, their warranty and customer service is just as good as Rugers.
