Taurus vs. Ruger

Any feedback on whether to choose the Taurus 44 mag tracker, or Super Blackhawk? I like the way Taurus looks, but I don't want to base on looks. Have heard some good from Taurus, and all good from Ruger. SO WHICH ONE?? I will be carrying it with me as a backup sidearm bowhunting in hog country. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Here's my last Taurus.

Definitely the Ruger. If you want double action, the Redhawk is an excellent revolver, also, as strong as the SBH.

I haven't heard anything besides "adequate" for Taurus. Rugers just keep going and going and. . .

I've had nothing but bad luck with the one Taurus I formerly owned. Their customer service and "Lifetime Warranty" is BS. On the other hand, Ruger has excellent customer service (never had to use them for repairs, just a very reasonably priced refinish).

I would never consider buying another Taurus. Stick with the Ruger.

I actually had a good experience with Taurus' warranty/customer service. I still have that gun and one other Taurus that has had no problems. Both are good shooters. My experience balanced against those others' proves nothing, but suggests inconsitency. I'd go with the Ruger. If nothing else, when all has gone wrong, it will make for a better club! :D

My brother has a Taurus Model 65 that over time (about 4 years) he wound up getting light strikes on the primers - he sent the gun in and got it back in a week and hasn't had any trouble since.

I've got my first Taurus (model 65) on layaway at the local gun shop. Can't wait to shoot it - it definetly feels solid. I'll post my results once I bring it home. For the $$$ is seems like a very good bargain.

Also had a GP-100 years ago...sold it for a 9mm. Still regret it, but at the time it was too much gun for me. Thought about the ruger but the price for the Taurus was just too nice.

I found the RagingBull's action smoother than the Ruger.

In 454 the Rugers finish is primer ugly. Taurus has come along way. I love my Titanium 357 Tracker. Get the Tracker.

It appears to be a defective forceing cone in this gun ( Early90's mod 85 that had sat unfired till reciently.) In defence of Taurus, they are working with my smith to replace the firearm (and my similar vintage 85Ch is still functionalafter years of use/carry.) Customer service seems to have improved significantly from my experience 15 years ago.
