Taurus TCP with wings

I can find nothing else on the TCP with wings on google. In my 2015 Taurus product catalog. Pager 7
Model 738BWGS
Developed for shooters who may need assistance in chambering or locking the side back. Has retractable wings. One on each side fold back on hinges . Looks pretty flush with the slide folded.
Sorry No scanner.

They are waiting to release it until it undergoes some modifications.

Going to have a curved frame, and clear side plate.

Putting real, stand up sights on would do the same. Rack with a tables edge, or off a stiff belt. It'd cheaper, and let you actually aim the thing too.

Order a 2015 catalog you silly guys..it is there. I did not make it up. Just because you cant afford to buy guns for fun don't snipe.

I do buy them for fun, but not to fly! Taurus TCP with "wings"
Or to see through
Or to fit my curves (would have to be a 50AE to fit mine!:D)
It's just hard not to make fun of some of what Taurus is coming up with.:D

TBO racking the slide should be the least of the worries with the TCP. No Taurus bashing here, I've got two and really like them. I've got the TCP and if racking the slide was a concern I would choose something else. While the TCP is only a .380 it is pretty hard to control and shoot accurately. Just such a small and light gun. I really like mine though. Bought it over all the other poly .380s I handled. Only thing better in that size & caliber I have found is the Sig P238. But, that's quite a bit heavier and more $$$$.

Good luck. :)

The "wings" fold out. Depending how it's implemented it will be a good option for folks who have trouble racking the slide.

Give taurus some slack, I don't see anyone else doing anything outside the box. I'm tired of these cz, vp9, PPQ threads bunch of junk guns jumping on the latest trigger fad...if I put a hair trigger on a wooden plank folks would be all over it

They introduce these ideas but who knows one of these days one of them may become mainstream

Like clear side plates, or curved frames? Really?

The wing idea can be a benefit if it doesn't encumber the slide in some way. The first thought is unintended deploying when you don't want it to, like while holstering the gun. Fiddling with a firearm trying to put it in a holster, or pocket is never a good thing. Just ask the "elevator" cop in the video going around!
I think for those with trouble racking the slide, a tip up barrel in 380acp would be a better idea.

Having the frame of the gun conform to your body is not a bad idea, showing the mechanics of say umm movement of a watch is not a bad idea. Again they are thinking outside the box. The first iteration doesn't always make the most sense but sometimes an idea will stick. Some other manufacturers will notice and improve on the idea.

Also how many tip up 380s are there? Rounds are stored in the magazine, you don't have time to stick a loose round in the barrel. Also have you tried field stripping an 86?

A loaded magazine is inserted in the gun. Rounds are stored in a box!
1.Insert loaded magazine.
2.open tip up barrel.
3.Insert round.
Not all that difficult.

Also have you tried field stripping an 86?
No, but my 22 Poly tip up is one of the easiest to clean pistols I have.

how do you clear a dud in a tip up?
My Taurus 22 Poly usually flings them out when the barrel catch is released. If it doesn't come out then, it will if I elevate the muzzle with the barrel open.

showing the mechanics of say umm movement of a watch is not a bad idea.
An interesting idea, but a useless gimmick in a gun.

Having the frame of the gun conform to your body is not a bad ide
But an equally useless one as seeing the internals of a revolver. My LCP is well concealed, and comfortable in my pocket. As is my Kahr CM9 carried IWB. Even my Springfield XD40 Sub Compact in a Theis Holsters Hybrid IWB holster "conforms" well for concealed carry.

I will give Taurus credit for a couple good ideas they have had.
1. The 45/410 revolver. Touted by some as a gimmick. But with the advent of the newer "handgun specific" buckshot rounds, used in conjunction with 45 Colt SD rounds it is a very viable close range self defense choice. A Public Defender Poly is my choice for a truck gun when I travel
2. The Taurus 992. A Long Rifle/Magnum convertible swing out cylinder DA/SA revolver. One that I have been seriously considering for a long time.

So as far a Taurus coming up with new designs, I am all in favor of it. But it is disappointing to see them wasting their efforts on the gimmicky dumb ones.

Ah where do you get that loose round from? You don't carry arround a box of loose ammo. Tip ups are a good idea for the range, not for self defense

you can't post anything on this forum about a Taurus, the same clowns just jump in and repeat the same thing they said in every other previous thread that mentions a Taurus, whether it has anything to do with the OPs question or not.

LOL LOL LOL
"That's funny right there, I don't care who you are!"
I don't wait until I need my CCW gun to load it!:D
I also at times carry a Ruger LCR revolver. Ammo for reloads, which are even less likely than actually needing the gun, or having a dud SD round, are carried is a Speed Strip. I also keep a couple in my truck for the PD Poly. One with an extra loading of 2 Federal 00 Buck, and 3 PDX1 45 Colt. The other with 5 #7 1/2 shot 410 shells if I have need to deal with a poisonous snake. The Speed Strips would make carrying extra ammo, and chambering a round in a tip up barrel pistol very easy.
Maybe if you didn't try so hard to think "out of the box" your posts would make more sense.:D

I do have a serious question about the flying TCP for the OP.
I really don't need a 2015 Taurus catalog. I'll have to wait for it online to see the winged TCP. But to address the concern I expressed earlier, can you tell by what you saw how unintended deployment of the wings is accomplished?
Is there some sort of latch, or release to hold them in place? Or are they held by spring tension only?
Doubtful I would buy either, I'm completely happy with my Elsie Pea. But as I indicated in other posts, a big brother to my 22 Poly tip up barrel 22 would be cool, and probably get my money.:D
