Taurus Raging Bull .44 Magnum

44 magnum

Perfectone:
Big mistake if you purchase anything other than S&W 44 magnum. I have owned all of the major gun manufactures. I have sold several but shoot every Saturday a S&W 6.5 inch 629 Classic Dx. Balance and trigger pull out of the box is superb and gets better with use. I shoot handloaded factory equiv magnums in lead and copper jackets
I have been shooting for 42 years.

well, I agree with you when you're comparing S&W with the old Taurus .44 magnum. but you can't compare them (the old ones) with the brand new Raging Bull. that's like comparing FIAT cars with Ferrari, they are made by the same company, but that's where the comparison stops. I don't think there is much difference in quality between a S&W .44 magnum and the Raging Bull .44 magnum.

just my opinion, correct me if I'm wrong :D

The Perfect One,
I have to agree with Herb on this one. I own a Raging Bull. It's nice, but not as nice as a S & W. As a matter of fact, comparing my Bull to an older Taurus model 85 I also have, I think that the 85 is much higher quality. When I first bought the Bull, the action felt "gritty". When I disassembled it to polish, I found blasting media in the action that had to be cleaned out. No excuse for that.

Pefectone,

Why not a Ruger? The Super Redhawk is a heck of gun in .44Mag or .480 Ruger or .454 Casull! The .480 provides more power than .44 without the jaring recoil of the .454 Casull. So also is the Redhawk (no .480) and the Super Blackhawk Hunter which provides a full lenth rib (44 Mag only). The Super Redhawk and Super Blackhawk also have integral scope mounts and come with rings.

I have .44 Mag Redhawk with an Aimpoint Dot scope. I hit frozen milk cartons at 50 yards like you would ducks on a pond, without fail. I have taken many Deer with it as well as 1 Bobcat at about 90 yards. It's a stone cold factory revolver with no custom work done, not that it would not be beneficial, howevever, not needed. My point is, I find it an extremely reliable, acurate and very tough revolver. Ruger has a nice stainless finish too IMO. I find mine shoots most accurately with off the shelf 210gr. Winchester Hollow Point Silver Tips. Oooops's I lied, lol, I do have rubber Hogue Grips with finger grooves that I love!

I am currently looking for a great carry revolver in .357 Mag, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, or 44 Mag. If anyone has any suggestions in these with a 4" bbl or less, please let me know. Pics would be a great help too!

Good Luck,
Marshall

well Marshall, I tought about getting a Ruger, but my dad alrady has a GP 160 stainless, 6" full shroud barrel which I shoot a lot. and in my opinion, the Redhawk/Super Redhawk just ressemble the GP 160 too much. and when I'm going to spend $ 600, I would like to have something completely different than I already have. I know the .357 and .44 are not comparable, but both guns look very similar to me, and I just like some variation. I already have a Glock 17 3rd gen., a CZ 122 SPORT .22LR and the Raging Bull would be a nice third gun I guess.

but thanks for the advice:)
