Taurus Quality: Objective Opinions...?

riggins..
since you work at a gunstore you must know that taurus isnt the only one with issues. EVERY gun company lets one slip through the cracks from time to time. one of the taurus' i have has upwards of 2000 rounds through it and ive had it for years so that kinda blows your longevity theory out of the water. as far as trusting my life to a taurus, i do it every day. so do alot of other folks.
on a side note.. i get really tired of people bad mouthing a gun they dont like, so you saw a bad one at the shop, or you had one once that broke. that doesnt mean they are all bad. i could have bought any gun i wanted. i chose taurus. its a reliable, solid, accurate shooter. get over it!!

Just like anything mechanical every brand has its lemons. With Taurus I tend to see a higher percentage of Lemons than with other brands.

I've got two Taurus guns - both 100% since I took them out of the box. PT-1911 that's a great shooter, and a PT-709 that I carry every day. Many hundreds of rounds through these guns with no significant issues. My brothers also have multiple Taurus guns - again, all 100% from day one. You'd think that if Taurus was the crap company that all the naysayers think it is, at least ONE of what we own would be a lemon, right?

Taurus guns are not top shelf - but they don't have top shelf prices either. Good guns at a good price. That defines Taurus.

im sorry but im not buying it. i know people who own gun shops and have very good friends who are gunsmiths and they dont see that. 10 years ago maybe, but not now.

Quote: Unless Taurus gets ISO 9000 certified I am not buying their products.
Some exceptions for range only guns that are knock offs of "cassic" firearms. 1911, M9, etc. Unquote:

I hate to bust a bubble, all ISO9000 means is your paperwork is good.

If you process is designed to make junk, as long as the paperwork agrees its junk, then you are ISO9000, because your paperwork reflects the junk you put out. Totally meaningless. Looks impressive, pure bureaucratic garbage (and it was started in Europe, so......) Yes, been there, done that.
