Taurus patents new curved handgun design

I plan on getting into IDPA this coming year so I may have to.

All I can tell you is that regardless of what you shoot or how you shoot it, you'll have a ball -- and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I was the one who designed most of the scenarios used at our IDPA club matches -- which were held in an indoor range. We would shoot from the offhand side of a barrier, sometimes while kneeling, a few times while carrying something heavy and awkward, sometimes with a hostage in front of the target BG, etc. One of my favorite exercise was a ballon stuffed into the center of the IDPA target, which was pulled rapidly across the back of the range. Even the best shooters had problems with that -- and you appreciate just how hard it can be to hit a moving target with a handgun.

One match we had an IPSC/USPSA International Grand Master come and shoot with us -- it was his first IDPA match -- and he was amazing. The following month he did an IDPA Qualifier with us. Not a wasted motion, no wasted shots, etc. He seemed to be a cross between a time and motion study expert and a ballet star. Watching him you begin to understood the saying, "It's not the bow and arrow, it's the indian..."

At that first match, when it was all over, he had the highest score of all the shooters, and there were a couple there who were pretty darned good. He did it shooting a friends NIB Glock 17 -- not his gun. (The same guy later ran some classes for us -- and he was a better instructor than he was a shooter, if that's possible. He built on our strengths while helping us work around our weaknesses.)

Yeah I am pretty excited to get started. It's very rare that I get to shoot on the move or run defensive type drills with live fire unless I have the range to myself, which doesn't happen very often, usually when I am that lunatic out there shooting in the pouring rain.
