Taurus Judge for home defense

the judge is fine. NO way you can say its worse then using grandmas 32 sw or a .380. Its just this,

because its in a shotgun caliber, people expect it to have the same power. It doesnt. But it works. It was designed as a short range fight stopper and its good at that role. When i mentioned 50 yard testing with the judge, thats what they do. test it with the cheapest 45 colt they can find, and then declare it to be useless. Yet they only test that 1200 kimber at 20 yards...

the box of truth has been discredited very well over the years. It doesnt even LOAD anymore, just a little place saver on the internet for ads for a webhosting company.
They person creating boxotruth even admitted their results were worthless because they had a 2.5 inch model and were cutting down 3 inch shells with a pocket knife and just reducing the powder charge willy nilly.

Is this your very best argument? I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of any gun, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good choice for the task.

No, that isn't my best argument, but I do think it would be a fine home defense gun.

If you'll trouble yourself to go to post #15 and click on the link provided, you'll see that every one of your assertions is wrong.

Box O'Truth is very much still on the net.

A bit of history: Box O'Truth tested the first model 2.5" Judge when it came out. At that time there weren't any 2.5" 410 buckshot loads available, so they cut down 3" loads. It spewed shot all over the place.

Desperate to find a reason not to believe it, a lot of Judge fans complained about cutting the shells to 2.5", so BOT re-tested at 7 yards - not 50 - with a by-then-available 3" Judge with 3" shells.

It STILL spewed shot all over the place.

So the "cutting down the shells" excuse is just that and BOT never "admitted" the test was flawed. Here's what they ACTUALLY said:

The first Judge I tested was a 2 ½ inch model and some folks criticized me and said it would have performed better if I had a 3 inch model. They also said that since I had cut down a 3 inch buckshot load to 2 ½ inches, it spoiled the test. They also said that some of the new ammo designed for the Judge would work “a lot better”.

My friend ArmedSuspect contacted me and said, “I am an FFL and have a gun shop. I am willing to acquire a 3 inch Judge to test some of the new “Personal Defense” ammunition that is being marketed, if you are willing to do some tests.”

How could I refuse?

The hard, cold truth is that if you shoot shot out of a rifled barrel the patterns will rapidly disperse. This is an established fact and the Judge is no exception. This puts a severe limitation on the Judge's suitability for HD when loaded with any shotshell, no matter how badly you might want to believe otherwise.

You can, of course, load the Judge with 45 Colt loads, but if you're going to do that you'd be better served by a conventional 45 caliber revolver.

if the buckshot loads are sooo useless. which of you menly men are willing to get in front of a judge when the trigger gets pulled?

what, nobody?

guess it isnt useless or insufficient.

What does that even mean ?
A paintball gun isn't meant to be a fight stopper either, but I'm still not gonna stand in front of one, unprotected, and have it fired at me:confused:

Seriously? You're stooping to the "I bet YOU wouldn't want to get shot with one" argument? First it's childish and second, it's already been done. (See post #8)

That's all, folks.

The Judge has been discussed endlessly on forums - superweapon, a hoax for the naive - it will be for the ages to decide.

Closed.

PS - who would want to stand in front of a North American Mini revolver in 22S?
