taurus curve

What's funny is that when Ruger eventually copies it, as they do all innovative designs,
that the Ruger fanboys will freekin RAVE about it...and still be down on the original ;)
Kinda like how they do Keltec now...

I'll take that over a tired old typical design that offers nothing better any day.

You mean nothing better than a design that is tried and true and always works, especially when your life depends on it?

I have enough trouble hitting things with pistols built on straight lines. I don't need to throw my shooting skills an additional curve.

Gyvel...bolt action rifles are also tried and true. I don't know about you, but a self loading rifle with a 20 round magazine capacity is better than a bolt action rifle with 5 shots in most fights.
Refusing all attempts to improve one's technology because something in current use is tried and true means you get left behind.
The curve might or might not be a good idea, but we have to explore new ideas to improve things.

I'm not a Ruger fanboy - far from it as I don't care for most of their guns. But, if you are comparing the LC9 to Kel Tec's Pf9, the LC9 is simply a superior gun. Kel Tec comes up with some good designs; if they would put a little more quality into them then Ruger couldn't easily steal the design and make them better.

We're not talking about rifles. We're talking about a device that you carry (maybe concealed) on your person in polite society. I will take anything that has proven itself over time if my life depends on it over some oddball attempt at gimmickry. Technology is one thing, but gimmickry is another.

Additionally, we had rifles that featured 20 and 30 round magazines in a little conflict I was in called Vietnam. All it accomplished was the "spray and pray" technique. I forget the actual statistics, but it was somewhere in the "thousands of rounds expended per 1 VC casualty."

On the other hand, the British, who carefully trained their riflemen, and who utilized 10 shot bolt action rifles for decades, had a far greater casualty to expended round total in two major world conflicts, plus Korea.

So don't tell me a 5 shot bolt action rifle is any less effective in any kind of fight than a 20 shot semi, or a bizarre, curved pistol is any more effective than a proven conventional design. It's how you utilize the weapon you have and how you discipline yourself.

Edit: Curved barrels are not new technology; The Germans tried it in WWII, and possibly someone before that. it's just an old idea that the current generation has either forgotten or never heard of. Didn't work very well for the Germans...

Yeah, like no sights, just a couple electronic gimmicks that may, or may not work. As mentioned before, the whole thing is a gimmick based on the "new" gun buying crowd who due to their inexperience are gullible to slick advertising hype.

I'm a Ruger fan, but I gotta admit, that's funny. Some of Ruger's best handguns are improvements and modifications of other designs; it's what Ruger does best! Some examples are--
Standard/Mark series .22's = improved design if the Japanese Nambu in a caliber for us Americans
Vaquero (& all Ruger SA cowboy revolvers) = modernized, improved design of the Colt SA Army form
LCP & LC9 = improved and better finished copies of Kel Tec's

Admittedly, in a way every manufacturer does this. JMB's recoil designs have become a standard design in most center fire semiauto handguns. Developers take the best ideas and designs and - when the patents expire - modify them and make them better.

I'm waiting for the Ruger "Arc"!
