Taurus 917C
I used to have a PT92AR in stainless, and it was a great gun. Unfortunately, it was one of the dreaded times of "gun or groceries" and I had to let it go...
A couple weeks back I saw a blued PT917C at a pawn shop for $349, and it looked great. The trigger and lockup felt pretty good, too, and it came with both a 19 and a 17 round mag. I'm a regular customer, and they knocked it down to $300 cash, so it came home with me on the spot.
Range day: It had a sweet and smooth double action pull, and a crisp, clean breaking single action, and put the first 50 rounds of range ammo (115gr FMJ) into less than 2" at 7 yards. The next 50 ( Remington 115 JHP) went into about 2" at the same 7 yards, then I ran 50 more of the Remington's through a course starting at 5 yards and working out to 25... overall the group was less than 8 inches, clustered neatly in the center mass of the silhouette. Only two failure to feed incidents, both with the original 17 rounder that came with the gun, but I'd picked up 4 more of 17 rounders, and the have now cycled over 1000 rounds without a hiccup.
Needless to say, this is my new standard carry piece.
Mags for the 92 work fine and aren't had to find cheap. Holsters are available form several makers, if it fits the 92 it fits the 917. Just make sure if it's railed to get holsters for the railed version, or it will not fit at all.
