Taurus 2nd Gen?

Glock 23

Inactive
Ive been looking at the Pt111 G2. 4-5 years ago I wouldnt have spent $100 on a taurus but looks like they have come a long way. My gun shop has the PT111 G2 in flat dark earth for $200. Taurus is a decent gun for the $ right? Or should I save my $200 and put it towards a new Glock?

Bought one of the PT111G2 for my daughter, for training use. Have about 500 rds thru, mix of FMJ and JHP. Had about six failures to eject in the first 200rds, no problems since. I would buy another, if needed.

I bought one a couple of months ago. Had 3 failure to feeds in the first magazine.....after that everything ran fine. Nice gun and seems to be very accurate. I have not shot a lot of handguns and I was able to keep most of my shots inside an 8" circle or so the first time out. You can get extra mags through Taurus customers service for $36 dollars plus $8.25 shipping for your whole order. I would buy another one in a heartbeat if I had a need for it.

freaking love mine. not trying to plug my huge profitable videos or anything, but I did make a little youtube on it. shot about every ammo I could think of. been shooting mine weekly for 6-8 months, maybe more, great gun. perfect size with an impressive capacity for it's size. interesting trigger that you will like after you get used to it.

sorry, I had never made a video before, so it's pretty long and redundant.

huge fan of canik as well, but too big to carry comfortably like the g2. and the g2 has over 1000 rounds of all sorts of different profiles and is 100% reliable, and so is everyone else that I know that owns one. just go check the reviews on them, solid pistols.

Went today to look and hold it. Wow, fits great in my gorilla hands for a compact. Feels very well built! Im getting it, cant go wrong for $200 and if I dont really like it after ill just chunk it in my bug out bag. Thanks for the input.

Down at the low end, corners are cut, somewhere.

I read enough good things about the second generation Mil Pro. That might be an honest reputation change, or Taurus somehow manipulating the buzz. I trust "the Intewebz" less and less.

Taurus is a decent gun for the $ right?

I picked one up about a month ago. Like you and many others, I was skeptical. Ordered one from PSA without even handling it and I was impressed! Pretty comfy for a gorilla to hold. Only about 100 rounds through it so far, but no issues and no complaints. Can't really go wrong for the price.

Edit: still getting a Glock shortly. Just because.

I had a Gen 1 PT140 and it was totally garbage. Ended up being sent back twice to Taurus. Junk.

Reluctantly tried at Gen2 PT145. Wonderful pistol, no problems.

Apparently they worked out the bugs in the Gen2.

HOWEVER,
Last month it was announced Taurus has a huge recall for a lot of pistols including the Gen2 PT series. Google it. No idea where this leaves us...

Surely a gun shop couldnt sell a recalled gun just like a car lot cant sell a recalled car. Idk, like I said im giving it a go either way for $200. Love the way it feels in my hand. Ill sell it for probably a profit if I just hate it.

The recall is for certain handguns made between 2007 and 2013. It states handguns may fire when dropped ,regardless of the trigger safety. The G2 models are not included, according to my research.
I am biased as I bought and very much like the PT111 g2.:D

Good, hopefully I have the same experience as u. Just skeptical about buying a taurus. I got a CZ-75B Omega about a month ago and didnt think twice about it. Love that gun btw. Still carry my good ol glock tho:)

Someone else addressed it, but the recall did not include the G2 series. The recall was the first generation of the Millennium Pro guns. That issue was also known for a LONG time, it's just coming to light again now because the lawsuit was settled. The G2 series was actually designed in part to fix the issues with the first generation guns.

mine's been fine through about 400 rounds, but it won't feed jhp's from slide lock, it needs to be slingshotted to feed them. But no other FTF or FTEs. Other than that, it's certainly not the best trigger, the best sights, or any of that, but it gets generally close to what I point it at, and fits my hand very well. For a $200 truck gun, it's fine, I'm not sure I'd rely on it as my sole defensive weapon or anything.

I had always stayed away from Taurus firearms simply because I kept reading one negative thing after another about them and it seemed like when guys had them up for sale they always took a big hit trying to unload them.
A few months ago I had an urge to purchase a tiny gun and figured I would get a .22lr since the ammo is generally so cheap. I ordered a Pt-22 from bud's because the customer reviews all seemed pretty good for them and I'm honestly really surprised at the quality of the firearm I received for my $170.
I've put 150 trouble free rounds through this little pea shooter and it seems to be very well constructed. The trigger pull is really long and slightly heavy but I actually shoot it very well even out to 10 yards. I'm still trying to figure out why that is considering I had a lot of trouble with my LC9's heavy long trigger pull but I'm seriously happy with the one little Taurus in my collection.

CZ9, Tell me you touched up that photo with the gold and green as a joke....right? My first and last Taurus went the way of the Do Do bird after Repair Service owned it longer than i did.
