Talk me out of it.

Never sell a gun unless you just don't like it, or due to financial necessity. (My version of Cheapshooter's rule.)

IMHO, keep the 19.

A 42 is perhaps possible to use for a pocket gun (I only held one once).

I have a 43. I like it a lot, but it is too large for normal pockets, IMHO.

I am a collector so guns are not tools for me. They are my life passion and hobby. I may sell one rarely but it is quickly replace with 2 or 3 more. Why sell them? BUY BUY BUY

My only advice with the small guns - 380s and single stack 9s - is that they seem a lot more sensitive to "fit" issues than, say, double stack 9s. In other words, shoot before you buy if at all possible. The G43 didn't work for me at all. The G42 actually worked better for me than the 43, but like you, I wasn't entirely sold on 380. I tried a number of others before finding the PPS M2 - love that little guy.

I have to agree with those who are saying to save for the Glock 43 and keep the 19. The 19 is a great all around gun. I just bought the 43 and like it a lot. You should go with the Ghost Pro Trigger if you decide to get it though.

Regarding the Glock 42, I would not drop down in power to the .380 acp for the slight reduction in size. Both carry 6 rounds. The difference in size is L: 8mm, W: 2mm, H: 3mm and just over 4 oz. The .380 ACP is more expensive than 9mm so practice costs more.

If you are concerned about mixing mags, I would paint one of yours different colors to avoid confusion.

A bit more background, I'm not a collector so i view each and every gun as a tool. If it doesn't serve an exact purpose, or better yet a few it is sold private sale and on to the next one. Funds aren't too tight but I'd just as soon have one pistol. I'm very soon applying to SBS a rem870 20gauge youth and i have a couple ARs that'd work for home defense aswell so no need for a night stand gun. I hike and ride motorcycles if I'm not working, hunting, or at home. Where I hike the biggest threat would be a coyote or blackbear, bear mace beats a pistol for those. So my only concern is 2 legged critters. Thanks for all the insight thus far, and once again thank you all for making this the best gun forum on the web.

Well, that clarifies a lot. While I to am not a "collector", I am more of an acumulator. Haven't seen, or owned too many guns I don't enjoy shooting. But if your attitude is that a firearm is simply a tool, and you feel the need to down size, at least consider staying in the 9MM class. But not necessarily the Glock. There are more compact, and concealable choices than the 43. In fact, there are much more concealable choices in 380 than the 42. For some reason Glock oversized both for the intended purpose.

Based on your last comment, it seems that the sub-compact 43 would serve you much better than your compact 19. If you are comfortable with the .380 acp as a round, that is your personal choice. I know most here prefer 9mm as a minimum, but to each his own.

If you have no attachment to your gun and see it as a tool, by all means sell it. Better than having "money" sitting around collecting dust.
