Taking the online plunge. Buying a K31!

Okie dokie.. so it finally came in! I was starting to get worried.

But HOLY FREAKING CRAP this thing is a work of art, mechanically speaking. I'm a machinist & the metal work on her is amazing!

All numbers I can find match. Trigger is amazing! Stock is relatively beat up. High points on the metal are worn through the bluing. Rifling is crisp & bright. There is the fabeled tag under the buttplate with a dude's name on it, but no unit or address? It's freakin' heavy. Overall it looks like she has been taken care of, but definitely shows use.

I would not hesitate to buy another one. In fact I might.. this would make an amazing silencer host, I believe.

did it come with the brass muzzle cap.

I have one with the holy grail a number matching bayonet. woot. has a sharpening stone in the sheath so it sharpens the bayonet with each draw and sheathing.

whats crazy is go on ebay and buy the original victorinox swiss army knife its actually all the tools to take the k11/k31 apart.

there is a new production in all stainless called the soldier model that is the same they run about 25 bucks and are avail all over.

if you want a real treat look up a zkf31/55 that's the holy grail of k31's saidly I passed on one and have never seen one since. there was only I believe 1750 of them made and only like 800 made it to the us

For what its worth, the GP11 is really nice stuff. I got a couple hundred rounds from AIM. It is berdan primed. I have been setting the brass aside anyways, but doubt I will ever reload it. But the GP11 does shoot nice. Kicks a bit, I use a sissy pad (Limbsaver from Walmart, $15) and it helps a bit. The metal butt plate isn't the most comfortable. Still, I love these guns.

So many issues with getting berdan primers easier to just buy some -CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED-ty pavi gold for the reloadable brass or just buy brass and reload with boxer primers

They were selling mint, unissued K31s for $650 last fall. Issued rifles run $300-$400, some less. Have yet to see someone not happy with theirs, no matter what they paid.

Since there was some interest in this I thought I would share my AIM Surplus k31.

It looks beautiful! The lower stock is dinged from drilling, but otherwise is in great shape. I also got the original sling and dust cover. Total was $380 plus transfer fee. That included the extra for the Walnut stock, $20 handpick fee, and $15 for dust cover and sling. All the numbers match too, the gun was Dated 1941.

It also has the name of the person it was originally issued to under the butt plate.

Mr. Fankhauser was apparently a Motorcar driver in the 104th division of the Swiss Armed forces. He was from the village of Tschäppel in the Municipality of Huttwill Switzerland.

If my German serves me correctly, of course.

Motf. = Motorfahrer = Motor Driver

After checking out what's available at Simpson's, I feel a lot better about paying AIM the extra $20 for my best of 5. The stock and blueing are in good shape, but most importantly to me is the rifling and crown. The outer edge of the crown is a little dinged, but given how deep the crown is, the bore is well protected and looks sharp. I'm anxious to get out to the range with it. The weather is too iffy here still (N. Illinois).

If you can come across a zfk55 jump at it. I love mine and have no regrets. You can even get a replacement rail to allow for a better scope. With that being said hits at 600M on torso targets was not difficult with the factory scope.

And get some GP11, as much as you can swing. There is no finer ammo for your rifle.
