I know this is off-topic, but can someone tell me how to quote here? I've never seen a "quote" or "reply with quote" icon here anywhere, but I see other people quoting all the time. . . . am I just blind?

Just use the (quote) and (/quote) tags. To name the person quoted go with (quote="Some guy") and (/quote). Square brackets instead, of course.

Ex.

(quote="JuanCarlos")When I change the () to [], this ends up looking like what's in the box.(/quote)

I wish we had a quote button, because it would make nested quotes a ton easier (sometimes it's better to maintain context by quoting the person somebody is replying to, as well as their message, when responding). It's also a lot of extra typing. Then again, the quote button can get obnoxious when people don't trim out deep nested quotes, and you get replies where somebody quotes like 8 responses deep from 6 different people just to throw something at the bottom like "Yeah!"

We DO have it:

Use quick links->edit options, scroll down to the misc section and change to the standard editor so you can see the quote button.

:D

Oh, I suppose there is that. But in other forums (even vbulletin ones) I've seen a actual "Reply with quote" button that appears under people's posts as you read the thread. Click it, and not only does it take you to the reply screen but it includes their entire post, including nested quotes, formatting, smilies, etc. already entered in for you.

That's what I meant by a "quote" button.

Thanks, though...I had never noticed that quote button up there and it probably will save me some typing.

These rifles your referring to should be called HDR homeland defense rifles and not assault guns.

Naw, that's just taking buzz-words in the opposite direction, making us no better.

They should be called, for instance, "semi-automatic rifles with removable magazine and pistol grip." And somebody doesn't know what that means, they probably shouldn't worry their pretty little head about it because if they ever are the victim of a crime it'll probably be with a compact revolver or semi-auto pistol anyway.

The last one is a loaded question. Of course we want illegal gun dealers shut down. That's not what Brady means however. They will go after ANY dealer that has a legally sold firearm involved in a crime regardless of the circumstances.

Exactly except the "no better" part. Personally I have not seen the pro gun folks twist the truth to outright lies.

Whens the last time you knew a lawful gun owner using his gun to assault folks, It happens, yes, a alcohol induced romantic rage. Do you remember the gal running over and over her husband with the car?

I would say legal guns used in defense is 99.9% more likely. Many of those are in defense of their home.

I also did a strongly disagree with that mess in total. Assualt Weapons my eye, Home Defense Weapons is the right name, mine has a bayonet lug, I have no bayonet and how many criminals bayonetted anybody in the last 40 years? My Home Defense Weapon has no three shot burst nor full auto capabilities and the safety is only marked safe and fire. My HDW has an "Izzy"
flash hider which doesn't really hide the flash but being welded on at the factory, makes the barrel a legal 16 inches long. It also has a pistol grip, better to hold onto, my dear !!!! It is a legal military look alike and I intend to keep and shoot it until hell freezes over. Like Clark Gable said in Gone With The Wind, "Frankly my damn I don't give a dear" as to what the anti's like or dislike.

I received an email from these people thanking me for taking the survey. It was from a stoptheNRA address. I let them have it with both barrels. Imagine that, one minute they speak of wanting to stop gun crime but the next they're opposing a pro 2nd amendment rights group.

I told them I'm quite sure the NRA doesn't want criminals with guns so what was their real purpose? (As if we don't know already)
