Tactical shotgun help

The needs for range and home defense are different. Forget about lots of ammo in extended magazines, it just makes the gun heavy and less maneuverable. Get a basic pump (870 and Mossy are both good), that will hold 4 or 5 rounds and you're ready to learn how to use a shotgun. That, BTW, is the biggest problem--most people don't ever get properly trained with the shotgun so they never can utilize it at the upper level of performance.
Personally I use a stock Beretta 1201 and a fairly stock (added a 1-round mag extension) 870 and have held my own in every training program/tactical shotgun course I've gone to.

Well said Mr. Armstrong. Training is king! Even our troops in combat have an issue with it. When you start adding "options" you actualy start adding training requirments. When time is a finite asset "options" usualy lead to training issues. Don't believe it, next time you see photos of deployed troops with the PEQ-2 laser look for how many still have the Blue "training blocks" in place.

I just made a deal for a Super Nova Tactical ~ now to find a high quality mag extension

Just pick one up too last Saturday. And that's after I told my friend I was going to stop buying guns for a while as I've spent too much already this year. (Couldn't find one at the gun show so droped by my local shop and bought the one on the shelf.) Really like the pistol grip over my standard configuration Nova.

Saiga-12, built off of the AK-47 platform. $400

Comes standard with a 5 round detachable magazine, but you can now get 10 round magazines. It can shoot 3" shells, but recoil is pretty stiff. 2 3/4" shells have moderate recoil, and the "tactical low-recoil" shells a downright soft.

I can easily empty the 10 round magazine in 5 seconds, while remain on target. Over the last year, I've put probably 500 rounds through it, and I have yet to clean it. I oiled it once.

Mine is modified (well, one of mine) with a pistol grip and folding stock, making it a very compact shotgun if needed.

Good deal :)

I'm impressed with it's construction and design, I'm glad I picked one up.
