SW M60 For CCW

I'm pretty sure that if you unload five rounds of 357 into the face of a black bear he is going to think twice about coming any closer. I know their tough and all but really ... that's got to hurt. :D

:)

So what about over penatration with the 357? Is it an issue? Is it an issue with the short little 2" barrels?

M60 "Shorthammer"

I thought I'd throw in my .02 here...

I bought a M60 for my wife quite a while back before they started chambering them for .357, but even if it WERE a .357, it would still be kept loaded with .38 SilverTips anyway (just thought I'd add that as a comment).
It's been her purse pistol for years, but something happened sort of interesting only a couple of months after I bought it for her.
What happened is that she was transferring it from one purse to another while in our concrete floored shop. She dropped it and it landed on the hammer, breaking it off at the most narrow part of it.

I wasn't too concerned about a couple of nicks on the grips or anything because this was a "working gun" in a real sense of the word (it's better to work good than to look good ;) ).
Anyway, I first thought I would need to replace the hammer, but what I ended up doing instead was to grind the jagged knub into a nicely rounded shape because, for a women's self defense pistol, all I ever told my wife to do was to point and pull (absolutely no SA cocking for any reason; I don't want my wife to have to think, just survive).

But what's cool is that the pistol ended up with only a small hammer, big enough to SA cock if (I personally) so desired, but now much smaller and smoother where it doesn't catch on stuff.

So there you are; a custom mod for those people who think the exposed hammer on a M60 is problematic (and I could always install a new hammer whenever I want... but the wife likes it like it is so that will never happen).

Silver lining to that cloud I guess :)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, would a SP101 trigger job cost around $50?
