SW 642 vs Glock 26

That's a good point- I can't really carry it unfortunately. Maybe I am jumping the gun a little bit, so to speak, in my excitement to get out of here and have my rights restored..

I really like snub nosed revolvers, used to have a taurus 85 blued, and a sp101, shot them both extremely well at range even. I shoot the 26 well too, but should I even bother with these tiny guns when I can't carry 'em? I do have a 5.5 inch security six for house detail.

On the high road, I got an offer to trade my 26 for a 19 and I'm really considering that. The only thing that is stopping me is the hassle of a non ftf gun trade, and that I DO shoot the 26 about as well as I shot the full size G17 I used to have.

Hey, if you like snubs, go for it! I love my snubbies too, I've got 3 of them. I just wouldn't go with a flyweight J Frame for anything other than deep concealment, but that is just my personal preference.

In addition to my 642, and the 2.5" Model 66 pictured above, I have a sweet Model 15-2 (1965) 2" that a lot of fun to shoot. Being an all steel K-Frame, the recoil is very easy to control and not the least bit uncomfortable. I shoot it as well as my 6" Model 14, proving snubs are every bit as mechanically accurate as their longer barreled brothers. I paid $374 for this gun last year:

Of course, you could always get another SP101. Those are fine guns, I wouldn't mind owning a 3 1/16" example one day.

As for trading your 26 for a 19, it too doesn't sound like it'd be worth the hassle, considering you shoot the G26 equally as well. Something to consider though.

As a non-law enforcement citizen living in the state of Illinois, you are certainly in a quandary. If you COULD, keep the Glock and buy the Smith to boot! You'd then have a near perfect concealed carry pair that you could mix and match with as you wished!

The others have summed these two up well. They accent each other very well, so my vote is to acquire both.

They are two totally different guns. If you have the no lock 642 I would keep it for sure. Not only is it lighter, less likely to jam (though my Glock has NEVER jammed) but it is can be fired in a pocket 5 times unlike the 1 time for the Glock. The Glock is really too heavy for pocket carry. The 642 is a great back up gun for the Glock.
