Suspicious incident- thoughts ?

I live at the end of a cul-de-sac. Last night approx 2244 local made a left hand turn onto my street. Vehicle behind also turned & was behind me. So rather than turn into my driveway I pulled on foward. Vehicle sat behind me approx 15-20 seconds then proceeded on. I had a way of escape if this had went bad & knew at all times what the vehicle was doing.

Now I would've thought this was just a turn around at the end of the cul-de-sac except the vehicle made a left turn at the end of my streed and proceeded in the SAME direction he was going. Will never know maybe it was nothing & thank goodness we won't know for sure but any other thoughts appericated.

It seems there could be many mundane explanations for this, such as pulling into the wrong street and pausing to check a map.

you sound paranoid to me. Of course, like they say, "just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me."

Good SA....I know you could not have seen the satellite constellation that was tracking you from orbit, but maybe you spotted the black chopper in whisper-mode hovering overhead? I always keep a pair of trunk ninjas next to the spare tire just for these kinds of situations. :)

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses thus far. I probably wouldn't have thought alot about this except in my former le life I seen "a couple things"like this turn out pretty bad. So for me better safe than sorry.

Hey, you know your area and only you can know your gut. If it feels bad, especially if you have experience knowing "bad", it just might be bad.

So for me better safe than sorry.

Bingo.

Any situation that doesn't develop into a situation is a good situation. :D
Nothing wrong with being aware of what's going on around you. Most people probably never would have noticed.

Maybe innocent, maybe not. Only you know what is normal and to be expected in your neighborhood at that time of night, so it's not really possible for any of us to judge whether your concern is justified or not.

You're demonstrating "hyper-vigilance" -- It's one symptom of PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Characteristic of hyper-vigilance is ongoing angst and real or imagined perceptions of being threatened or under attack. Another characteristic is a predilection to describe events in terms of tactical military operations.

-- We have meds for this stuff now. :D

Max doesnt know what he is talking about ignore him.
you are probably the victim of teenagers just messing with people so basically if you dont freakout then they didnt accomplish their goal :D

Do you have any houses for sale in your cul-de-sec? I always go and check out the neighborhoods at night time, find out how loud or quiet the area is when the sun goes down.

Max ID'd a case of diagnosed PTSD in a woman he'd been talking to in a chat room for about 20 minutes. Max sees a lot of PTSD symptoms in the posts he reads on this site.

Max refers to himself in the third person as a literary device, and so this should not be erroneously conflated with some sort of pathological dissociative identity disorder.

sometimes i take late night cruises around my city

i often wonder how many hundreds of people i've made paranoid by "following" them or using their streets and even driveways as turn-arounds.

sometimes i get a "can i help you?" or a "what the (*&$ do you think you're doing?"
i usually answer with remarks like "just casing the neighborhood" or "i'm just looking for my next car"

It's just smart to be a little paranoid. It's better than being naive about everything. I have found that if I watch too much A&E or CSI Miami, I get that way maybe a little too much. Do any of you know what I mean?

On a more serious note --

I sometimes have vehicles follow me out of town, ten miles. I live on a long dead-end, off a secondary country road. I don't give much thought to the vehicles following -- UNTIL they turn up the dead-end road behind me.

Being a half mile down the dead-end, I keep an eye on the vehicle. Here's the tactical protocol I've thought out:

I have a long driveway, pasture fence on both sides and so, no place to turn around once headed up it. If/when they follow me onto my property, which is "Posted" . . . then they're trespassing, and the "Castle Doctrine" applies.

Had you pulled INTO your drive, you'd be on your property and the Castle Doctrine would apply. I wouldn't be too concerned about "disclosing the location of my residence" -- not unless you had some sort of indication that they were somehow "casing your residence."

You have a whole lot more options with regard to use of lethal force for defense when you're on your property then when you're parked on a public street.

No, you're not paranoid. You've got good SA though, and that's always a good thing. It could have been... a lot of things, some innocent, some not.

Could be lots of things. Somone lost, or reading a map. I'd err on the side of somone meaning no harm, unless your neighborhood has a history of violent crime.

Someone ask about houses for sale on my street . The answer is no.
I told one of my leo buddies about this who works my district & he agreed that I did the right thing. Like I said if the guy would've turned right when he went out of my cul-de-sac I would not have been posting here. I would've figured just a turn around. However he turned left which put him going back in the same direction he was going to start with.
