Surefire Defender

Loadit....

I have a G2 and am soon going to buy another one to put in my car. I have the olive drab colored one. I love this light!! It is definitely worth the 35 bucks I spent on it. GET ONE!!! lol :D

Great choice Surefire

I don't have the defender but do have a Z2 same size and bulb Assy. and it's a real blinder. I also have the M3 that has the defence barbs and they are sharp and will hurt if used to defend. I say any Surefire lite is a great choice.:)

I can't remember when I bought my 6P but it has been a constant companion. Heck mine isn't even Black anymore:D It is so bright that it stops people dead in their tracks. I never leave home without it and it fits in a magazine pouch set up that holds 1 1911 mag and my 6P.

Kinda funny when your in a dark area and someone brings out a light, "that's not a light, this is a light" (Pardon me Crockadile dundee LOL)

I am a humongous Surefire fan, they are one of the few things I recommend by brand, but I gotta admit to being a little put off by the Defender. The beauty part of a Surefire like the 6P or my personal favorite and EDC the E2E is that it isnt a weapon, though it certainly is an effective yarawa or kubaton. My concern is that I wouldnt be able to get the Defender into a secure area like a federal building or anyplace with a "no-weapons" policy, while my E2E goes everywhere, including aircraft.

I also have some questions about it's efficacy as a weapon - it looks guaranteed to break the skin, leading to all kinds of body-fluid-goo issues, but is probably nowhere as effective at breaking the skin as a knife. In other words, it probably does a really irritating amount of damage when you dont necessarily want it to, and not enough when you do.

Now I find that I am talking myself into getting one just to see how wrong I may be.

My thoughts also

I also worried about where I could take the Defender this is why I like my Z2 also I keep my light in pocket and the defender could dig a hole through a pocket in time. I still think it's a good choice for someone needing both a light and something to quickly use if nothing else can be found.:) I do have this idea that many get taken from people at airports.:(

Get the Surefire, they are worth every penny. There customer service is second to none.

I was chasing a fleeing suspect a week ago, and had my G2 in my V70 belt holster that was about six years old. The holsters belt loop broke sending my G2 and holster to the ground. After I apprehended the suspect, I retrieved my light to find that the bulb had broken when it hit the ground.

Long story short, Surefire will replace anything that has broken. So I called Surefire and let them know that my holster broke and fell to the ground, breaking my bulb. They asked for my address and have shipped me a new holster and bulb. Total time on the phone; 6 Minutes.

Keep in mind things that break will be replaced, you will have to buy a new bulb if it burns out from use.

Defender is a GREAT light.

I just bought a defender about 3 weeks ago. Great Light. Do not look at it and turn it on. I learned the hard way !!! Anyone know the aprox life of the bulb in these lights. Also good advice on getting another light to carry on plane. I wonder if you put the red lens cover over the end of the defender if that would help you get it on the plane. Until you have one of these lights you just can't imagine how that small light can be SO MUCH brighter than a big Mag-Lite !!

All I can say is that it is one bright light! You can go with a less brighter lamp assembly (MN01?) or convert it with L1 LED lamp head...;)
