super small .22lr semiautos

Rather than carry a .22 lr pistol, I would opt for a .25. They are generally much smaller, lighter, and more reliable. The difference in power is negligible.

I'm not sure this would be considered "super small" but my Taurus PT22PLY is the smallest .22 semi auto I own. 400 rounds now, and zero failures that can be blamed on the pistol. Only two failures to fire, both cheap Federal bulk pack ammo related. Zero failures with CCI Mini Mags.

I also have the PT22ply and really like it with its tip-up barrel system. Yet the grip is somewhat beefy and makes the overall size appearing quite bigger than the length alone (4.9'') would imply... It is small, but not close to being as tiny as a Baby Browning or thelike...

if Iver Johnson was a stable/reliable company and they brought back their tp-22/25 guns (at a reasonable price) I'd buy one. that said I do not have a Beretta bobcat because of the lack of an extractor, though I like the gun.

In almost 70 years of production, there hasn't seemed to be a problem with the Berettas not having an extractor. You'd think we would have heard of it by now.

The tip up barrel system obviates the necessity for an extractor.

I also have the Taurus copy of the Beretta tip-up. It's a fun little plinker. It would be interesting to try the Baby Browning with my extra-large hands.

I have a KelTec .380 that is lighter, smaller, and hits harder than any of these, so why the push for .22 in today's world where .32s, .380s and even 9mms are in the same size class?

The Keltec P3AT is quite a bit larger than the tiny pocket .25/.22 guns.
It's also quite a handful to shoot.
Guns don't have to be the most powerful for their size. Some people prefer smaller calibers.

Good point, though I'm not sure the oldies were much smaller. Certainly not lighter. But of course Bill you know my P3AT has been giving me fits anyway, and yes it IS a handful of recoil to master. I have carried .22s before. Walther's p-22 is not small, not in the Baby Browning sense, but lordy is it accurate for it's size!
