Summer vs winter hand loads

I don't change loads and use them year round. I can put up with 1/2" difference in the winter.

The worst load I ever had was H380 in a .22-250. In Sept it was off by 1" so I adjusted. Oct came and it was off again by 1". I no longer use H380 and switched to Varget. Haven't seen any big differences.
 
Chrono your ammo on the hottest days and then you don't have to worry about Power Factor when it gets cold out.

So, it slows down when it is colder and you don't worry about PF?

Me thinks you have it backwards.
 
I shoot from 4K to 10K in my home state, and down to a few hundred feet traveling for hunting and matches. Temps from -10 to 105.

On the Chrono, yes I can see changes in velocity. However, inside 300 yards, I have yet to see any change in group size that is attributable to T or Elevation.
 
I suggested if he was going to develop loads in the summer TEXAS heat for hunts in the winter in Colorado and Wyoming store his loaded ammo in the freezer and carry it to the range in a cooler. If the refrigerator has an ice machine on the freezer side the temperature has to be close to -5°

It is not easy to pry information from an OP but my friends that were going to hunt where cold is a guarantee were not going to the cold country to blast away at a target; they were going to the cold country to hunt; meaning they were not going to get more than one shot off before the game disappeared over the hill.

And then there is the ice fisherman, I am told it is necessary to keep your worms warm. I can always tell when the ice fisherman is keeping his worms warm, he mumbles a lot.

And then there is the Tea Cozy, for all I know hunters in the cold country use receiver cozies to keep their rifles warm.

I want to thank both of you, an ammo and receiver cozy is doable. I do not see anyone allowing the use of the word 'cozy' to be associated to the gun world.
