Suggestions on small CC gun

Top of my list is a Keltec P32. Anything else to consider? How bout something with more umph?

I am looking to carry in the summer in the waist or pocket to replace my preagreement SW99 that I carry in the winter.
Also looking for something for my wife. SW Airlite is now out of the question.

If you want a good 32acp, consider the NAA
Guardian. I have one and it sure is nice.
I get teased about my "mouse gun", but 5
in the face beats using your bare hands
anytime.

You could look for a used SW Airweight, I have both a Airweight and an Airlite
and the difference isn't that much.

Also, as in other threads, if a dealer has
a SW that they bought before SWTD - SW Traitor Day and they are going to stop
stocking new ones, it isn't bad to get one.

Last - check out the Taurus ultralite line.

Some of my friends have P-32s and like them.

Howvever, I manage a Glock 26 in an IWB
in the TX summer just fine.

If you can find a Colt Pony I am very happy with mine. I had it dehorned, and Novak night sights etc by Showgun . I live in Fl and it is my American Express card. I carry it every where. With the good sights and the extra power over the 32acp I would much rather have it if push comes to shove. Yet it is still easy to carry as a pocket pistol. It will cost you a lot up front but if you are going to carry it for the rest of your life as I plan to it is worth it.

Best Regards
Sam

Kahr mk9. It' too small for me, (I carry a k40 for the control of a full grip) But for more oomph in a small piece, it could be the wat to go. I also have a p-32 for situations where I feel ok going "unarmed", but when I carry it, I always long for the k40. Cor-bon 135's to the rescue!

gunpowder; If you want to put a gun in your pocket I think a steel frame gun is going to be to heavy. As suggested, a taurus "ultralite" or the new titanium line of guns from taurus. Good Luck, j.s.

I carry a P-32 using the belt clip. Cliped to my jeans, it is impossible to detect and easy to employ. I often ask my wife "where" and she cannot tell.

FWIW--

I have a Colt Mustang .380 and Gov. .380 and a FEG SMC-380 (Hungarian Walther knock-off that cost less than $200). I like them all.

The Mustang is nice and small, the Gov.t (1/2" longer barrel) is more accurate, but the FEG is cheaper, packs the same punch, lighter (alloy frame) and feeds more reliably out-of-the-box.

Good luck choosing. I'd go with nothing smaller than .380 ACP. YMMV.

My Beretta Jetfire 950 can give you some nasty splinters. It's always loaded with Hornady 35 gr HP.

It's been totally reliable, but it shoots left (no adjustable sights) Also look at the Beretta 3032 Tomcat.

take care bud,
Ben

SW 380. People bad-mouth them, but I've run over 2000 rds through mine and never had a problem. Weighs around 13 oz., and has no protruding parts to catch. Also, as a bonus, they cost about $240. Of course, the downside is, you'll be buying it from the newest sell-outs on the block.

How about Colt Hammerless 380? Relatively heavy but thin, flat and accurate, with great trigger. Not drop-safe but then neither are Berettas.

My pick is the P32 and P11/.38 alloy for larger size...Colt Junior looked good but I have no experience with them.

If your sw99 is 9mm why not go with the Kahr MK9 or K9. More umph than a .32 and a quality handgun.

have you considered a HK P7M8 or P7PSP? Supposedly, there is no other gun that you can draw cock and fire as fast as the P7. It's also really fast to reload because the cocker is also the slide release.

Consider a Makarov in 9x18 mm. They are inexpensive, very reliable, and have a tad more ooph than .380. A very nice little pistol.

I will second the suggestion for the Makarov.
They are an amazingly accurate handgun, and more power than the 380. With a half hours work, you can get a silky smooth double action pull, and a single action pull like a target pistol. Add a set of rubber grips if you want, and there you go :-)

If your going to carry a gun for self defense I think that you should carry something that has enough Oomph, as you say, to get the job done. I don't particuarly enjoy the prospect of shooting another human being, but if I have to, I want to get the dirty business done as quickly as possible. I wouldn't want to carry anything less than a .380 and than I would want it loaded with hydra-shoks. I'm a personal fan of the 38 special snub nosed revolvers, when a smaller gun is in order. I had a S&W model 36, but I think I'm going to take a look at the Taurus ultralights next. Loaded with five 125 grain +P hydra-shoks it becomes a pretty lethal little package and far better than the mouseguns that seem to be gaining in popularity. As far a concealement goes I carried one pretty much all the time this last summer and nobody ever new. I used either a strong side Michaels of Oregon holster, or one of the Kramer pocket holsters. My only complaint was that the gun was a bit too heavy for pocket carry, hence the reason for wanting an ultralight. If you really want it to disappear try one of the ankle rigs by Kramer or Allesi (spelling could be wrong).

I also vote for a Makarov. Small, slime, comfortable in the hand and very accurate. And they're a bargain to boot!

So many pistols, so little money.

Hello!

I made the choice of two guns for small CC, one revolver and one auto.

****Disclaimer - a pro-pre-sellout-smith-post follows!*****

My revolver is a S&W 342ti which is only 11oz, has a reasonable punch and a smooth double-action only trigger with a completely internal hammer. I use is primarily for backpacking where I am not likely to take any gun that weighs.

My auto is a Sig P230 .380auto. There are several good loads out there for .380 auto now and this is a compact that has enough grip to shoot well. It also is considered one of the best quality .380's ever made. Sig has recently updateds this pistol with one called the P232.

I think both of these are excelent choices for small CC guns.

as usual, YMMV, FWIW, IMHO and all that!

J.T.
