Stopped & Searched in PRK, Part II

dog3,

Thank you for your comments. May I play the “devil’s advocate” here for a moment?

If I may ask your opinion as to why you think that the police would not care to be recorded, either audibly or visually, in these types of situations?

Brett Bellmore,

My thoughts exactly!

On a side note (and not intended to set off a bashing session),

It is very alarming to me (and I’m sure others) that the behavior of a segment of LEO’s has reached the point where they are assaulting and even killing fellow officers.

Some time ago there were incidents, in Beverly Hills I believe?, where a black policeman was videotaped being assaulted by uniformed officers. He was pulled over on a bogus traffic stop and physically slammed into a glass window for no reason.

In another incident, in Florida (and on Court TV), where a officer, a major I believe, was pepper sprayed and arrested after identifying himself and asking for a supervisor to come to the scene after a improper traffic stop.

Recently, in California again I think, a black police officer was badly beaten by officers that he knew and had drugs planted on him. And another incident concerning the shooting death of a black officer by police has been in the news recently. Wasn't a Transit officer shot in NY by fellow officers also?

This is very disturbing to me.

The incident in Kalifornia where the black police officer being pushed through a plate glass window was either Long Beach or Signal Hill, KA, not Beverly Hills. It was basically a set-up by KNBC, CH.4 in L.A. to prove the racist actitivities by the P.D. in question.

On the topic of tape recorders, Most of the LEOs I know carry one of the small "Memo" recorders in their shirt pocket. They always turn it on when making a traffic stop. Saved a few of their butts from false accusations too.

Boy, am I glad I live in the frozen north country, and not in the "Left Coast". You guys can have earthquakes and out of control cowboy LEO's.
