After looking at John Kerrys senate voteing record i'd vote for ANYONE running against him.
He is one of a few poeple who looks natural standing on the left side of Ted Kennedy.

In my opinion all politicans are liars though some are worse than others. But when they have or do hold a senate seat its easy to see what their agenda is by looking at their senate voteing record.

Mr. Kerry voted for almost every gun control bill before him including bans on many cal. of ammo
Bans on several types of guns [actions]

He also voted yes on tax increase almost every time.

Big supporter of gay rights

big support for keeping flag burning legal

Big support for abortion even partial birth

If you look up bleeding heart liberal in the dictionary John Kerrys picture will be there.

When we see how quickly our civilization crumbled and how we stumbled into Iraq based on false premises and without a realistic strategy - I am amazed that anyone still gives a damn about the importance of social conservative issues like gays, flag burning or abortion as the crucial determinant of voting choice.

Would you think better of Bush or a hypothetical Pres. Kerry if they had sprung into action and banned flag burning, stem cell research or gay marriage in response to 9/11 or NOLA - get real. The existence of our country is not influenced one iota by raving politicians trying to control people's sex lives or free speech.

Personally, I do not think either party is capable of producing a honest individual of quality. Each side produces a mediocrity at best of intellectual and moral capabilities.

It is delusional to think one party is better than another on some sexual or tribal identity issue.

I also see no future in either party and until a new movement produces candidates from the sensible middle of the country and not subject to hate filled crazed right wingers or equally hatefilled PC lunatics the country will suffer.

Both sides are equally corrupt and seek to exploit the middle folks of the country.

The frightening thing about NOLA is that if we had a major terrorist attack, it is pretty clear that our major responses are totally inadequate. From a clueless president to raving and corrupt local officials we are screwed. Some heroes and heroines surface but they are few.

There is no thought by the political classes beyond re-election based on slogans to charge up fools concerned with trivial social issues.

The risk to NOLA was well known as was the risk of terrorism. Unless you are a party zealot, you must conclude that the GOP and Democrats both blew it out of their butt on these issues. Saving Terry Schiavo led to a massive response and action. Studies indicating that NOLA would be a disaster led to cuts in the budgets. I'm sure President Kerry would have wandered in to his own stupidity if in office.

Bah - worry about flag burning and guys kissing. I'd rather worry about why a friend of mine had his job go to India and he is in his fifties.

In a few years, Al-Qaeda will nuke us and we will see the same cluster sexual response on the tube.

"When we see how quickly our civilization crumbled...."

Say what?

I don't know what civilization you come from (maybe you're channeling from the City of Rome in 476 a.d.?), by my civilization is still going strong.

CIVIL ORDER has crumbled TEMPORARILY in New Orleans, civilization didn't crumble.

Civil order has crumbled temporarily many times in this country's past, and yet civilization has gone on nicely.

But, I guess to be perfectly relistic, if you (not you, the ubiquitious everyone you) watch CNN or ABC or NBC or CBS and worked hard to divorce yourself from reality you would think that civilization as we know it has ceased to exist and that we've jumped the line over into a new dark ages.

Yow.

I'm not a very big fan of Bush. But there's no way I could vote for Kerry!

Hopefully in the next election I can actually vot FOR someone I want, instead of AGAINST someone I don't want.

I can't wholeheartedly support either Bush *OR* Kerry... both of them though, I think are more qualified than Zell Miller, who strikes me as unstable/flaky. At least on the cover of a recent Time magazine, were the smiling faces of Hillary Clinton and John McCain - mentioned as possible opponents in the 2008 race. Jeez that sounds far off yet, tho, eh? Why are we talking about it now???

Mike, sorry you missed the point. It was clear that I was talking about how infrastructure and law and order fell apart in that local area. Obviously, our entire civilization didn't fall apart. Duh, sorry that you didn't get it.

If one reads the newsources, it is also clear to me that both parties are moving into spin mode to aid in the next campaign.

This tragedy means little to them in terms of the people. They are assembling teams to try to weight the political benefit.

Does this suggest that neither party is worth crap and we would be better off without them? I would prefer folks to run based on their ideas and intellect rather than sloganeering over trivial issues.

Is anyone delusional enough to think that either party will produce a quality individual for the next election? Oh, maybe they will support gun rights or gay rights in a script written by a hack? Big damn deal.

Gore or Kerry would probably have been as clueless as Bush in this disaster or post 9/11. Great choices.

"Gore or Kerry would probably have been as clueless as Bush in this disaster or post 9/11. Great choices."

So Bush was clueless in this disaster, maybe you could give us some examples without quoting media hype.
I know he had FEMA on standby before it hit, what more could he have done, please explain.

"Duh, sorry that you didn't get it."

Then maybe, duh, you should, duh, learn to use the English language by, duh, selected the proper words to describe the situation?

Duh?

No.

:barf:

"I know he had FEMA on standby before it hit, what more could he have done, please explain."

Why, he could have gone down and stuck his finger in the dike like the little Dutch boy!

Or, he could have flown around the world so quickly using his superpowers that he could have reversed its spin temporarily, thus pushing the storm back out into open water and away from land.
