Bart B, You not comparing apples to apples F-Class to BR 1000yd matches.

The above rifle is shot with rear bag same as BR so there is no reposition of the shoulder, there looking at bag technique same as the BR guy do.

If your looking at F-Class like the above rifle that I post and those rifles can shot inside 6" group @ 1000yds as you claim why isn't there a perfect X score shot at each match.

Dave P....

I hope you meant "decimal". A decibel is obviously 1/10 of a Bel ( as in Alexander Graham Bell); often used in acoustics. But you already knew that.

Decibels show 1/10 of a logarithmic ratio of certain response gains, frequently shown on Bode plots. Acoustics is only one of the applications, it could easily be used for other data analysis. I had to use them to describe gain in frequency response for circuit analysis :(

Bart & Old Roper,

In my comments regarding Few Cleaned targets at the 20 in 1000 yard target, I was referring to high power. Iron sights unsupported prone slung position.

I don't know about f-class and bench rest, different ball game.

I did see three cleaned targets. I was shooting a team match at 29 Palms. We were shooting next to the AMU team. The 4 man team shot 799/800 with M14s.

I want you to know that poor guy who dropped a point sure caught hell. He gets razzed for a score I would have loved to have. 199/200

In the long run, the bullet goes where the barrel is pointed. I don't care how fancy you're rifle is, it isn't going to shoot 10s if us shooters can't hold the 8 ring.

I don't shoot F Class. Around here you get to chose to shoot position shooting or F Class. I do the position method. Normally I shoot two guns, one with glass one with irons. But both from the prone unsupported position.

Meaning I can use a sling but not sandbags or bi-pods.

...and I was thinking I was doing pretty good hitting a 4" steel plate at 100yd (4MOA; to keep the thread on-topic):p:o
