Cosmoline melts around 115 degrees F. If you're in Phoenix in 6 weeks, just leave it outside, with a pile of newspapers under it.
You can also use a hair dryer or heat lamp to get the bulk of it off, and a cloth to finish it once it's all melted and drips off.
By the way, it does burn, igniting at a pretty low temperature so be careful whatever method you use.
