State Department to Reconsider Importing Korean Garands

From the Korea Times article:
She noted that the U.S. government, however, rejected Seoul’s proposal to export some 600,000 M1 Carbines, which were also used in the Korean War, as they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds unlike the Garands.

To me, somebody (If it happens) is going to make a lot of money. Those guns just may or may not have our souls in them. Just like my 1943 Mosin Nagant has the Russian blood running through it's veins.

A lot of those may have come from WWII surplus.

How did State get a say in this?

BATFE should be running the show.

ITAR (run by State) covers exports of arms, BATFE (using their contrived 'scoring system') covers imports.
