starting my gun collection

Like some of the other posts mentioned, I think adding some handguns is the next step. I started with rifles/shotguns and now love to drag my handguns out majority of time for fun. Rifles and shotguns are nice/necessary but I have a hard time carrying them on my belt or in a coat pocket...

I'd recommend adding some type of semi-auto pistol like the Glock 27. It gives great night stand protection and very concealable to bring with you too. It will accommodate large capacity mags also. A 1911 in .45ACP is cool to have, a pocket gun like LCP comes in handy, and maybe a small revolver like a .38 special could mix things up for ya. After you've gotten some of that stuff, do yourself a favor and save up to buy a Kriss Super V .45ACP rifle. Of all my guns, that's in my top two or three for enjoyment and just plain neatoness. Crazy accurate too! That thing will "ring the bell" every time if the shooter does his part.

(As long as your bank account holds up)

You def need a .22 rifle and some handguns.

You need to add a 45-70 or a 444. Just pulling either bullet out of the box will make a new gun user think twice about shooting it, but it is a rush unloading that round. Plus, its always fun watching someone else that is unfamiliar with the round going at it for the first time. Marlin makes a great 45-70 lever action guide gun. Killed many a hog with it.

thank you everyone for all the comments, I live in upstate NY and with this safe act law assault rifles are now illegal. hand guns we need to apply for a permit. I am looking to purchase a Rutgers 10/22.
