I used to like Starbucks in the 70's and early 80's. Not so much now. You can get espresso just as good at some of the drive through coffee shacks.

BTW we had espresso before Starbucks. "The Last Exit on Brooklyn" and the "Allegro", both predated Starbucks.

Lattes were apparently first made in Veracruz Mexico and I have had them at what is supposed to be the first shop to sell them.

Starbuck's are better. I would guess a lot higher calorie but also better

Given Starbucks failure to support the military. Examples as follows:

Seattle WTO riots. NG and Police were protecting Starbucks. Starbucks refused to provide coffee and water to the Guardsmen and Police. Seattles best set up mobil kitchens and supplied the Security forces with refreshments at no charge.

911. Refused to provide water for first aid to victums of the Bombing.

Refused to donate to/or supprot packages from home and other troop support organizations. One custom Coffee roaster and blender in Phoenix AZ has donated over a million pounds of premium coffee. Unfortunately, I can't remember their name.

I do not pruchase any Starbucks products.

Starbucks has net revenue around 1.6 billion a year and they apparently pay about 34% in taxes, so that is 575 million in taxes. 1/5th goes to defense, so that is 115 million dollars to defense spending each year. Seems like more than their fair share of support to me, especially since they are competing with Coca Cola for private industry that projects the most soft power internationally from the US.

Store managers usually don't have the power to just hand out free stuff. You are getting angry that the manager of that store didn't take the chance that all that "free" stuff would come out of his paycheck.

Everybody wants something free in this country. B/c they inherited a family farm, they served in a military, their great great grandfather was a slave, etc, etc. Then they go and criticize everyone else who wants something for free b/c that person didn't earn the "free" stuff like they did.

I was actually referring to the part in which they ask folks not to turn their establishment into a political battleground.

That's pretty much what I took as the main point of it. If you go there on V-day great, I might. But don't open carry to make a point and don't go bragging inside about you're supporting them because they're pro-gun or whatever. They DO NOT want to be in the middle of this and that's understandable.

Remember starbucks sells whole bean and ground coffee also. It is going to cost you double or more what Folgers does, but it is a lot cheaper than their brewed drinks. If you haven't tried it yet the 14th might be a good day to give it a try.
