Starbucks Appreciation Day

I realize many of you guys probably don't buy expensive coffee often (myself included), but this was too good to pass up.

The Coalition to Stop Human Rights Gun Violence (CSGV) is organizing a "Boycott Starbucks" day on Valentine's Day, February 14th. Naturally, the Pro-Gunnie Blogs are organizing a counter protest called "Starbucks Appreciation Day". Go to Starbucks on the 14th, and buy something -- even a small cup of coffee. Be sure to tell them you're there because they respect human rights, and the law! Show them just how many of us are out there - Grassroots organizing is what we do best.

Somebody called the National Gun Victims Action Council is also urging for a boycott of Starbucks. I'm not sure if they're taking Joyce money, but they claim to represent 14 million "victims of gun violence."

Look, folks. We had this dance before with Starbucks. The open carry folks in California decided to turn the place into a battleground, and Starbucks surprisingly refused the Brady Campaign's request that they ban guns at their locations.

Please read Starbucks statement on the matter. They really don't want to be caught in the middle of this. Push hard enough, and they will ban guns from their establishment. As it is, maybe five people nationwide will actually boycott them for allowing guns, so there's no need for us to make a big deal of it.

Im just gonna take my sweetie for a drink and think about buying a FiveseveN

:D

i haven't been to Starbucks in years. sounds like a good time, especially if anti gun nutters don't want me to be there.

No need to make a scene. let the immature other side make 100% of the scene.

Never been to Starbucks, don't think I'm gonna make a special trip...

Now if Dunkin Donuts or Filibertos was the place count me in.

I don't often go to Starbucks, but I will make sure to head out there and grab myself (and perhaps a certain special someone) a drink. Starbucks has stood by the pro-2A community, and we ought to show them that it's appreciated.

I will continue to not support Starbucks. The whole not supporting the military thing is hard to get over.

My understanding is that Starbucks DOES support the troops.

If you are thinking of a different incident, please post it so that we can get a clearer understanding.

On a related but different note, I'm not sure if these folks are Starbucks approved or not but you could pick up a nifty shirt to wear to Starbucks on Valentine's Day here: --> http://ilovegunsandcoffee.com/

Wouldn't it be great to walk into a Starbuck's wearing one of those tee shirts and filling up one of those mugs? Just may do that.

I'm not a coffee drinker but I'll make a point to stop by both of my local starbucks. I won't open carry and I won't make a point about me carrying or the whole 2A issue because it sounds more like they've taken a neutral stance by what their statement says but I'll be there, probably in my nice new ruger hat, and if I say anything I'll say it in an email to the company. It's not like the cashiers are going to pass everyone's opinion up the chain anyway.

I had heard that starbucks did not support the military then I read an article stating the opposite and how starbucks had given giftcards or something to the troops.

Support the stores but let's not make a huge public stink about it because they would clearly like to be left out of the middle of the whole mess.

Just historically, some SB's in TX had the ghostbuster no gun signs. They were taken down when the 30.06 hit. Might have been local decision, so who knows.

I can assure you that if start to tell the baristas thanks for the 2nd Amend. blah, blah - they will think you are short of foam on the top.

I've read this on a number of gun sites. Many gun groups are encouraging a BUYcott of Starbucks on that day. I doubt that our support will make any more difference in sales than they other groups boycott but I plan to stop in and show my support. I'll have to find out where one is. I also plan on printing this to take with me.

I will go on the 14th.

If you don't go because of some past issues with Starbucks, or because you generally never do anyway....don't complain if they go the way of banning the 2nd Amendment. There are so few national chain establishments that are pro-gun, we need to support every single one.

Spread the word to all other gun board...the antis have a head start.

Starbucks is not anti-military, they are pro-freedom. Also, starbucks has a lot more than coffee for you non coffee drinkers.

For some perspective, it's useful to understand the rather twisted interrelationship between Starbucks and Peet's Coffee. The original founders of Starbucks knew and were inspired by Alfred Peet. This evolved into a deep seated rivalry between Starbucks and Peet's.

In California, Peet's banned guns is its stores as a result of the backlash against the unloaded open carry demonstrations that were taking place there at the time. The corporate culture at Starbucks apparently required that they distinguish themselves from Peet's and do something different.

Hmm, let me get this straight: a multinational corporation that wants to abide by local laws? Heck, I'll go buy one for that reason alone.....

I disagree. We are much much larger than the active anti-2a groups. Most people who aren't pro-gun, just don't care. If people on the online forums not only go, but get a few friends to go with them we could make it a BIG day for Starbucks.

I was actually referring to the part in which they ask folks not to turn their establishment into a political battleground.
