Staples doesn't like us anymore??

Staples has apparently declared themselves as anti-gun.
This link and story was on another forum.
They supposedly rejected an entry from a gun store to their small business sweepstakes.
If it's accurate, will it be cause for another boycott?
What on earth motivates supposedly savvy business people to drive away customers?
What do they gain from it?
Anyhow, here's the story, for those who are interested:

I wouldn't say they have declared themselves anti-gun. I would say they have declared themselves anti-controversy. Anything that is controversial is unwelcome cause they don't want anyone pointing fingers. Of course that does lead to people pointing fingers just like in this post.

In short, they need to grow a spine instead of playing jellyfish.

I have had repeatedly cra**y service from Staples and quit doing business with them last year. I assume there decision is based on the fact that the primary owners are very stringent Catholics like the Chic Filet group is also.

Don't understand why above poster feels Catholics are against guns......I know many that carry and are very pro gun. And the chic fillet reference....I'm ok with them making a decision like they did

I am through with Staples and plan to write them about my displeasure. And I encourage others to write them also. Loss of business and a flood of complaints might change their outlook.

Thank you internet...

Thanks for posting! It is good to see stories like this propagated through various forums & venues. As a show of solidarity, this sends a message if Staples monitors their internet presence. Of course the "anti's" do the same thing, but I believe they lack the resolve, solidarity & numbers of gun owners.

FWIW...

...bug

For those of us who still resist the latest incarnation of the Borg and don't do Facebook, what was the gist of the apology?

I believe the Chick-fil-A folk are actually Evangelical Christians and not sure why they would be identified as anti-gun. I’m only guessing here, but I suspect the opposite is true.

We wanted to give you all a update concerning Staples and there stance in regard to allowing the firearms industry to participate in there contests. We spoke with a representative of Staples who wanted to let us know that they had made a mistake and they are making it right by allowing the firearms industry to participate in any future contests. Thank you all for standing with us in support of the second amendment and our constitutional rights.

From Staples' own Facebook page:
We heard you! At Staples, we value all of our customers and appreciate your feedback. We now realize the rules of our Push It Forward contest were too restrictive and kept out legitimate businesses. Unfortunately, we can't change the rules once the contest is underway. But we will revise our rules to make sure future contests are more inclusive and reflect our commitment to helping all small businesses.

I sent them a note advising them I will not be doing business with them until they change their tune. Apparently I wasn't the only one. This is the way to solve problems; make your point calmly and without threats (except for economic ones) and see if the company in question can be reasoned with. Apparently Staples can ....

What decision did Chk-Fil-A make?

The only thing that comes to mind for me is the anti-gay thing and that was the owner making a personal statement, not the company making a policy decision.

Or is this something else?

Sounds kinda like they want to side with all the soccer mom's who shop there. No one is more anti gun that the stereotypical soccer mom.

I don't trust anti gun people, it usually means that they are uneducated and unwilling to learn about the subject, so they remain scared and ignorant.
