stainless steel handgun love

S&W 60-10. Currently this is my only stainless gun, it never leaves my side

The only stainless steel gun I have is a S&W 645. Nothing against them, it has just worked out that way. Another one is planned, Taurus Rimfire Tracker, or if I decide to "sell the farm", a S&W 617.

None for met yet. Probably one day though. I like the look of revolvers in stainless more than semi-auto's. I do like the look of some two-tone semi's with a stainless slide, like some HK USPs.

I understand the attraction towards SS handguns,,,

I mean it's so much easier to clean my 629 than my blued revolvers,,,
But I just don't think they are as pretty as blued steel.

I have a S&W 629, a taurus Tracker, and a Rossi .22 in stainless steel,,,
I like em well enough but they were accidental purchases,,,
Not bought because they were stainless.

jmho,,,

I prefer blued / black exclusively. I attribute my preference for non-shiny weapons to my military background/training, where covert and concealed is the name of the game. Not an easy preference to kick - it is embedded in my mental processes after all these years.

I love the look of stainless, however - there are some very fine examples in this thread!!

Me too, my friend just got an older customized 629 and it looks a lot like the pic Baphomet posted above, but with darker wood grips. Really nice gun, and the slickest action I have ever felt.

Another one for my "someday" list.

Answer to Tom Servo

Tom Servo asked:

Pogo, they made a Sig P239 in stainless?

My 9mm P239 has a stainless slide and an aftermarket nickel on aluminum frame. Sig actually made a .40 caliber "Gun of the Month" P239 back in 2005 that had the same appearance. But you don't see them very often. I think they look great and Sig should make it a catalog item.

Oh yeah! I remember that now. I picked up one of the Gun-of-the-Month P228's back then.

So, I guess all recent Sigs qualify since they've got stainless slides, regardless of finish. :)

I want a polished stainless CZ 75 in the worst way. Does that count?

Hell yeah........In .40 S&W.......to go with my nickel model. Too bad it is only available in 9mm !

I think I will eventually have to have one. Had to pass on a almost NIB one with 3 high cap mags for $599 awhile back. I've been Obamafied in the construction industry and can barely buy ammo these days.

I think these are what people refer to as "picnic guns", right ?

Stainless is great! Here's what I've got in the stainless arena so far...
