I can get a "mil-spec" (still hate that word) Stag Arms for less than $800. Just wondering if anyone would jump on that because that quality is above the M&P Sport and Bushmaster Carbon 15?

My best friend has over 2000 rnds through his Stag very few issues. Only hiccups he has is with cheap, laquered steel cased ammo.

He now sticks with brass ammo, and is very pleased with it so far.

I just recently picked up a 3G upper for $699 shipped. The whole rifle lists for $1400 and there's no way the lower is worth another 700 bucks.

Having said that the 3G upper I think is a very good deal and it shoots great and have had no issues with it at all yet. But I only have around 350 rounds through it so far.

I compared a lot of uppers including building my own, and the Stag worked out to be the best option considering the parts spec and the fact that the build is warrantied by the factory.

Depends on what you want it for. If you just want to take it out and pop off some rounds and you are happy with how it comes set up from stag than go ahead and get that. If you think you might use it for defense or want it setup in a specific way than a build would probably be a better choice.

for me there are so many options that I am not hunting around for a Stag, but I would shoot one if the deal was right.

I was thinking about building one. I am a lefty and have stopped compromising about firearms I feel comfortable with and am only buying lefty or ambi guns (within reason). I picked up a 3L for $730 last year and have not regretted it.

Stag puts out a good reliable affordable product. I've never ever heard of a stag having issues, and if it did they have excellent customer service. I own a couple of stags as well as some tier 1 rifles, according to the infamous chart.

This is a difficult one to just outright answer.

If you're not into building, buy the Stag. I've owned a couple, they were very nice rifles, ate anything I fed them, and were pretty accurate.

For me, I build my own. I like to build them, I like to spec them out, and I like the satisfaction of the test fire & zeroing. I can't "buy off the shelf" the exact rifle I want, so I build them.

I have a BCM and a Stag..... both work identically well. I got the Stag at a good deal.

Stags parent company makes a ton of AR parts for a lot of other Mfg's. Noveske uses their receivers to build their rifles.

Not to mention Stag has a lifetime no questions asked warranty. Do what I did.. shoot the snot out of it.. and try to make it fail! Mine keeps on ticking side by side with my BCM.

I agree with Lahey. Colt 6920's are selling for about $1,000.00.

Colt is the standard against which all AR's are measured. Save and get the real deal.

As much as I think Colt is a great choice... I sort of don't agree.

Like I stated my Stag works fine.. my BCM works fine. I am happy with both. I used to have a Colt that ran fine too, but when people were going nuts buying AR's I sold the Colt for almost double what I paid.

Colt makes a great AR no questions asked.. but they sell for $1000.

I can walk into a LGS and pick up a Stag for $700-$750. That is a pretty significant difference if you think in terms of... that difference can mean 1000 rounds of ammo to go with the gun, or a nice optic.

Honestly I work all day behind the gun counter... 97% of people buying AR-15's right now... will never need a full mil-spec rifle, or loose sleep over "The Chart". They simply aren't shooting them enough for it to truly matter.

Now don't get me wrong.. I am all about buying quality... but I honestly think Stag makes a great product at a great price. CMT their parent company is deeply rooted in the AR-15 world.. along with they made parts for service m16's as well. They also do automotive, and aerospace stuff as well but that's not important for here.

A person needs to be realistic on the use the rifle is going to see, sure is the Colt a better gun on "The Chart" Yes it is. Is it $300 better for the average weekend warrior... in my honest opinion.... no.

IMO just buy the Stag chances are your going to change you mind down the road On what you want this rifle to do anyway. Change as you go.:D

I own a Stag and couldn't be happier with it. Right around $800, does pretty much what every off the shelf AR out there does, and as stated, lifetime warranty. Oh, and shoots lacquered, steel cased ammo by the case, no problem.
