• Anything ‘published’ on the web is viewed as intellectual property and, regardless of whether it displays a copyright symbol or not, is therefore copyrighted by the originator. The only exception to this is if there is a “free and unrestricted reuse” statement associated with the work.

    In order to protect our members and TFL from possible litigation, all members must abide by the following new rules:

    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

    Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

FWIW,
4:10 and access to TFL is 60ms. Access to General is slow, but once in the forum everthing seems normal. The problem may be twofold, general net and local to the server. Can you provide specifics as far as operating system and hardware?
 
General forum is still sloooooooooow to nil.

General is not the largest Forum index or directory, so it shouldn't be the slowest. However, I've duplicated the General-specific problems. The search continues on my part.

Hey Rich,

Here it is a few minutes after your last post, about 11:30 PM EST and I confirm again that the molasses feeling is confined to loading the General forum. Once I got it loaded, several minutes each time, I tried several threads with no problem. As mentioned above, now it seems to be confined to the forum loading itself rather than the forum and threads inside the forum as last night.

Could it be gremlins??? :D: :D: :D:

Hey Rich, My hats off to you for the time spent on trying to sort out the problem.It seems to be loading better/faster then it was. Also like JBB said once you get in,it seems to work ok

Thanks, RAE. I didn't go to the UBB discussion Board 'cuz it's usually fruitless. I should have.

I did several recounts, but will try it with General shut down.

I'm getting 'Connection Timed Out' in Legal and Political as well. And, edits are also tough.

Not only slow at this point, but nearly unusable as well. Hope we find the fix soon.

I have tried several times to get into GENERAL without success, now when I re-entered TFL, I find it is missing. Help.

I also got several "sever timed out" notices when I tried to post in other forums. :(
