Springfield VS Les Baer

Brian - If I was you... I'd move. Seriously. Sell the house... pack up... kids, you'll have to make new friends in your new school.

But then again I grew up moving every two years anyways so I am prone to wander.

I had a very nice SA Supertuned. Had. I wanted it to be everything I saw in a Wilson or Baer. It could be for another $700. I sold it and bought a Baer PII. It is perrrrrrfect :) The SA was a nice gun but the Baer is in another class.

I had a TRP Pro for a short while. I would put it up against a Les Baer on function but it wasn't quite as smooth. Very smooth, but just not quite AS smooth.
I loved that gun. Loved it. But I totally ruined it... I had a "Bob Tail" conversion done to it to make it an even "better" carry gun.
The conversion was well done. But it no longer felt the same and changed the way it lined up in my hand... this alteration of my grip pretty much hosed it for me. I sold it.

I like Les Baer 1911s. I own five of them. After I got the first one I ended up selling all of my other numerous pistols and going straight Les Baer 1911s. A standard Springfield is not a Les Baer equal. I let my Springfield "loaded" go with the other above named pistols. It was good, but not great. Certainly others are capable of building a first rate 1911, but it would be hard to surpass a Les Baer gun. Watch-Six

I believe...

...PigPen has it right.

I've handled and shot a bunch of custom house 1911's in my years in the biz, and I'll put my current Springfield Professional against any Les Baer, Wilson or other tuned gun I've handled.

The downside? It costs every bit as much, or more. :(

TANSTAAFL.
