Springfield loaded vs rock island armory tactical

Btw, the Springfield ROC 9mm relies on a really tacky little plastic clip to compress the RSA when breaking it down for cleaning.
"RSA"?

What the heck is an "RSA"? Ive been shooting the 1911 since I was in the Army in the mid-1960s, and I've never seen or heard of anything called an "RSA" in or on a 1911.

I'd get the Springfield.
Whether the forged frame is $200 "better" can be debated, but that's largely why the Springfield is more expensive.
Broaching the magwell in a forged frame is apparently the single most expensive process, and a cast frame has the magwell opening cast-in, so you a save a bunch of machine cost/time.
The 1911 is an old gun, and I like mine made with the traditional processes, so I'll pay for forged parts.
And, this is something that only a "1911 purist" would notice, and only some of them would care about, but all ARMSCOR pistols have misshapen trigger guards, and I don't like the look of them.

"recoil spring assembly", maybe.

@ Lee Enfield ( splendid .303, I still have my Father's short version, ex Burma campaign) & AB; yes, it's actually a recoil spring assembly, differing greatly from my other 1911's. And a complete pita to remove without a 10 cent fiddly piece of plastic. Shoots OK though.

I guess I'll chime in on this thread too.

I have shot many 1911 .45s in my day. Lots of nice ones, some really expensive ones and some old ones. Heck I've even put rounds through the Colt Special Ops tan one that is so expensive I cry when I look at the numbers.:)

When I decided to buy one I bought a Rock Island Tactical. It has over 5000 rounds through it now and is still humming along with all my reloads just fine. Shows no overdue wear and is very accurate when I do my part. I paid $450 for it out the door. Worth every penny I paid.

In fact, I also own the RI 1911 9mm high capacity tactical and the Baby Rock. I'm debating really hard with myself on a Tactical .40 Hi Cap these days.

I'm not a fan boy believe it or not, I just know that when I buy one it will work and work well. So far I've been 100% correct on that belief.

Brazilian's have made some pretty good guns over the last 80 years too
Where do you think all the Argentine Systema Colt workers went after they shut down?

Where did you hear that? After Systema Colt production shut down, the workers were making FM Hi-Powers in the Argentine arsenals.

The Brazilian plant responsible for 1911 production was the government Arsenal at Itajubá. None of them were made by Taurus, which was set up with the help of Italian engineers from Beretta.
