Springfield 1911 A1 mil spec barrel

The barrel is a waste of money, unless you wish to do .45super. But I do not think Springfield is using 2piece barrels anymore for the lower models. I could be wrong. 2piece barrels are fine as long as they are manufactured right. Any barrel can fail if pressures are too high.

I think if you want to go replacing parts. Start with things that actually matter. Like how the fun fits your hand. If you like a nice rounded beavertail, have a high quality example fitted. Decide if you like arched of flat MSHs better. Also sights, if you want night sights or just different sights in general. There ya go.

I think that a barrel bushing properly and professionally fit would do just as much to help accuracy as replacing the whole barrel and bushing. You have to do the two together. Very unlikelypurchasing stock bushing would perfectly fit a new barrel. These things have to be precision fit for accuracy and reliability.

I love my Springfield loaded model. I could not be more pleased with its performance thus far. About 2 years and 1300rds of ammo down the pipe. I have replaced the trigger and have purchased a spare Ed brown extractor in case mine ever fails. It came with factory Novak style tritium night sights that I love. Feeds everything. I had the option of purchasing a mil-spec for $600, but the loaded model had much more nice features for $200 more. So I went with it. Only things I want to do now are replace ambi extended safety with right hand use only safety, and replace the 2piece FLGR with a GI type that doesn't require a tool. And a black bushing. I want my pistol all dark/all black. The frame and slide may see a OD duracoat or cerakote in the furute
