Clear & bright? Yup. It's not the brand, Celestron, that I like so well, it's the Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system that does the trick. These optics were designed for astronomy in low light conditions. I have no experience with this particular scope, but I do with the optics. Prior to Maksutov-Cassegrain, a scope with the power and brightness of this one would have cost well over a thousand bucks. But with computer operated machines grinding the mirrors and lenses, coupled with the simplicity of the system, the price was brought way down. Understand that this little scope isn't going to match a Meade LX-200 or very high end spotting scope, but I'm betting you'd be pleased with it on the range.
