Spotting a person carrying a firearm?

Shotokan,

Most folks would not see your handgun if you wore it openly. People are NOT looking at you, they mostly avoid looking at others.
If you really look hard, you may spot a fellow carrying, but then again, you may be misled.

Truth.

A friend of mine wore his sig owb with his shirt tucked in all day at work one day.

Not one comment or look. He didn't think anyone noticed it.

I'm just curious why you are interested in knowing this. Because as a regular guy who carries, I don't really care if other normal people are carrying or not, it is our right, and more power to other CCWers.

If you are some kind of LE or govt. and want other people's opinions on how to better perform your duties, then I would say specifically spotting a weapon is secondary to just looking for suspicious behavior in general. Actually, I would go further and say that kind of applies as a "regular" citizen as well.

I would be more interested in looking out for suspicious behavior, or a person that is "out of place" than someone who I see is printing when he is reaching for corn flakes, or standing in line, etc. I can't say exactly all of what would be considered suspicious as opposed to someone just conducting normal business, but I'm guessing being really fidgety, walking back and forth in the store, waiting customers out (to leave), pretending to shop, etc. would alarm me more than anyone who I know has a gun on their person.

1) Tactical vests, fanny pack , not to many Ganstas around here , and they stand out pretty clearly , and of course concealed carry is allowed unless you are a felon.

2) New ccw folks are pretty easy to spot, frequently checking for "printing"

3) Its a small town , so I often recognize the people carrying.

If someone looks at my waistline and sees a handgun, then they know I'm carrying. If they look and don't see a handgun, then they will need to guess if I'm carrying.

Perhaps where you live.

I know for a fact that many notice when I'm open carrying. I also notice others that open carry; but I actively try to be aware of my surroundings.

I usually watch the local homeys when they walk the street. Saw the dealer from around the corner walking down my street with the butt of an automatic sticking right out of the front of his pants. His shirt was up over it, and he was fondling it as he walked up to a car. When he saw it was his "friends", he dropped his shirt down over it, and got in the car. Talk about brazen!

Once, I saw this guy in a suit printing really bad, but he didn't care because he was guarding Bill. Definitely Secret Service.

LOL, I saw Billy at the Red Rocks Amphitheater here in Denver back when I was like 16 or 17. I saw those guys, dark glasses, ear plugs, suits blowing in the wind...and a silenced MAC 10 with a 30 or 40 round mag hanging inside their coat...
