Sportsman's Guide's ridiculous policy

Well we are screwed then! "Wisely" they don't want to tangle with him? What about the hundreds of other companies that ship some of these same items? They are a lot smaller than SG and they don't seem too worried. What you are advocating is the same weak-kneed reaction that gets us in trouble in the first place. We need to be a little stronger than what you suggest...just buckling under to an unlawful request. Your response is actually a little chilling...hopefully not too many people think as you do or we might as well just hand over our guns now with no questions asked.

This is where you have hit the nail on the head... The bigger you get... the more scrutiny you face. Basically, smaller companies can fly under radar. They are in the business to grow and to stay in business. It is usually very costly and not very effective when you try to go against the government legally. Now if you can get enough support and vote the right people into power, that is the best solution. The problem with California is the liberals pretty much own the state. Most of Hollywood is anti gun and their deep pockets don't allow change to come easily.

Some companies are just ridiculous when it comes to that stuff. As a sporting goods purveyor you would think that they would be doing anything they could (legally) to get their products out there.

But while we're on the business of complaining about SG, I ordered some .303 rounds monday morning from them, anticipating doing some shooting this weekend. They didn't wind up shipping them until wednesday evening. Thus I wasn't able to hit the range.

And I know this is kind of off topic, but does anyone know where i can get .303 in bulk at a decent price? So far SG has been the cheapest.

Seems to be a phone call or letter to the AG is in order.
You think the AG's office will care for 2 milliseconds? Not only no,but hell no!
Kalifornia is a socialist state and getting worse by the year.:barf:

Don't feel you are all alone here. SG has the same policy with selling gun parts, ammo, and supplies to residents of Mass, NY and Illinois. They made a business decision not to tangle with the AGs in those states. It is not worth their time, and money.

Key point. My comment was directed to a situation where I thought one AG was bullying a retailer. If it turns out the company made a business decision to go belly up in an attempt to appease selected state's AG's, then the appropriate action is to take your money elsewhere. They make a business decision and you make a business decision. See how simple and satisfying it is?

I was addressing the OP. But being a businessman I know where they are coming from and don't fault them for making their decision. It is not in their best interest to sell to residents in certain states because it could have unattended consequences. Its their right to make those decisions, and our right to take our business elsewhere if we don't like their policy. That is the free market principle.
