The guy came over, we mounted the scope and sighted it in. Shoots pretty good. The safety on the old Mauser had actually been modified or replaced. Had to use some penetrating oil to get the wing safety to move, but it's Ok now. Flipped up from the left about half way to vertical, the safety is on. Flipped down to the left, it's off. Works Ok, but seems way to easy to flip off accidentally. I suggested that he either have it replaced with something like a Win 70 safety or to not load the gun till he was in the stand and ready to hunt and then unload prior to leaving.
I'm not going to replace the safety and trigger for him. I'll leave that to a gunsmith.
