Spoilers Breaking Bad Final scene M60 MG SPOILERS

You can get a '60 too hot to function, I found that out in a very inappropriate time leaving me in a ditch with nothing but a 1911a1.

I haven't seen the show so I can't comment on it. But if you keep the gun heavily oiled it will go a lot longer. If you poor water on it, it will go longer.

It was designed for 6-8 round burst, keeping that in mine, it will shoot longer.

Off topic of the thread, but on topic of the M60

While growing up, I had a neighbor who's father served as a machine gunner in Vietnam. He was also a mechanical engineer and a gunsmith.

I remember him saying on several occasions, "I don't know how the US ordinance department took the excellent MG42 and turned it into that POS abomination of the M60. Just goes to show that with the proper amount of knowledge and brains, you can indeed turn gold into lead."

Needless to say, he wasn't a fan:rolleyes:

I used the M-60 in Vietnam, I've taught Machine Gun Schools using the M-60.

I've rebuilt M-60s to be used in Machine Gun Matches at the Wilson Matches (National Guard Championships).

I'm a fan, a big fan, yeah I screw them up, but it was me, not the gun. I learned from my mistakes. I learned to keep the gun going almost indefinitely.

For the most part they've portrayed guns relatively accurately in that show. One scene I didn't get at all was the shootout in the desert -- I think the producers said there were 144 rounds shot at what looked like 30 yards by hardened and trained killers, yet nobody was hit? Other than that, though, everything else has seemed well handled.

Are you guys talking about the scene where one guy was shot dead, another wounded, and a Suburban turned into scrap?

I agree that they did a good job with the guns on the show (as well as just about everything else). Although they are guilty of that slide-racking sound every time a muzzle changed direction.

The main discussion was on the ending to the series.

That comment was about the desert scene where the AB guys open up on two guys standing in the open and seem to miss an unreasonable amount. I found this odd bein that in an earlier episode they wipe out a whole rival gang with what seems to be little effort. I guess when you see how the Todd character is firing his handgun in the scene, maybe that explains some of it.

I'm not going to read this thread, but even the title is a spoiler!

Can you change the title and edit out the M-60 and just say "gun related"?
