Speed Test - Is your Info Highway fast?

I'm in Austin, TX, and have a 33.6 modem. My *best* so far is 20.6kbps, 2.5Kbytes/sec. I've sensed that things are slowing down the past few months, this confirms it. I'm currently using Mindspring internet, but won't be for long!!

I do better from work . . .

22.7 Kbps
2.8 K bytes/sec

My computer thingy in the corner sez 48000 bps,

BUT the test reads:

38.7 Kpbs
4.7 K bytes/sec

No wonder I lag so much on Counter-Strike!

I love Analog X Netstat Live!

Check out the speed I was getting this morning!

Notice it is the BIG KB not the little kb. You have the option to switch to kb reporting though. I was averageing 5,500-6,500kbps when I had it set to kb reporting.

My work line is a bit faster then this cable modem at home. Here are my specs:

Your line speed:

1854.5 Kbps

227.3 K bytes/sec

My connection is so slow......

there is a snail trail behind it!!!

21.2Kbps

2.6 K bytes/sec

Oh well, I don't care. Free laptop from work, and free internet access through work. I work from home.

Still considering cable though.

25.6 Kbps
There is barely any red at the bottom of that thermometer thingie. :(

Some of you guys have A LOT of patience! I couldn't handle some of the connections ya'all have or lack there of. Cable modem service runs $25 a mont here. With a hub and some cat5 lines, you can network two puters.

Hey, Son ... did you buy the modem? Here they charge 29.95 and 15 for the modem rent. I figured as soon as I sprung for the $360 bucks, they'd have a version change, right? Or lightening.

Some of us live in the sticks where anything beyond 28 isnt available, Son. That's the only downside I can see to it, though. :)

Ironbarr,
The modem costs $220 here. You can rent it for $10 a month.

Colombe, if I had my choice of the stix, where I CAN shoot on my own land, or the subs, I'd take the stix with slow connection and all.
