How many would be intrusted in a new forum in this bord for "specialty handguns"? Handguns like the contender, rem.xp 100 the stalker and other comp./hunting handguns. where we can talk about good and bad accessories pet loads (yes the short barrels "rifles" need special loads), discuses what gun is better then the others.
or another thing having to do with these unusual handguns
 
I'd be inclined to support that, however there is some problem of crossover: there's already one or two gunsites that have Contender-type forums, www.singleshooters.com forums, as well as the TC-L mailing list. Personally, I think one centralized site would be better than the multitude.

That said, if there was to be just one good discussion forum for Contenders, I like the archive features and exposure factor of TFL.

I do agree: Contenders and their ilk are very different creatures from the "fighting guns" usually addressed in the General Handguns section.
 
I am already on most of the message boards that I can find for this type of handgun (yahoo clubs, shigleshooter, handgunhunt and more). But I think tfl is one of the better ones out there. That is why I have asked them to start a new forum about this type of handgun. I meet with heavy resistance from tfl about this new forum and finally got them to agree if I can show a demand they will revisit the question. That is why I am asking for everyone's that owns a specialty handgun to help me with this quest.
 
The computation / hunting handguns are not like any other handguns. They require a lot more thought in the set-up and accessories. If it is setup wrong it can break your wrist or elbow set up right it is a blast to shoot. They take special loads to make them shoot well and have a life all there own. Some things just won’t fit well in a neat little category
 
No offense, but a lot of posts don't fit in the forum they get posted in.

You are talking about handguns, Right? This is the handgun Forum. Post away. I'm sure there are other members that have such firearms. I just doubt that there are enough to "clutter" up this board, if that is what you're thinking.

Try posting some topics and see what you get. Educate me.
 
You want to talk about clutter. If i want to talk about hunting with my handgun i have to post in the hunting forum then if i want talk about a new grip i am looking at then i have to go to gear then if i want to find a new load of my 375 jdj then i would have to post in the reloading that is 3 different forums i would have to post in for the same handgun all 3 of these could have been posted in the "specialty handgun forum" and I would only have to look in it and not jump around and it would be easier to find what I need.

not all handguns are the same that is why there are 3 forums right now. With your way of thinking the 3 forums are cluttering the bord now and every thing could be squeezed in just one forum. I assume you don't have one of these type of handguns. I say that because if you did you would understand what they are all about and how much you have to know about them.
 
Well, if I want to ask about handgun loads I do it right here. Same with grips. Trigger control and accuracy topics are discussed here as well.

Methinks you make too much of this.

One guy wants a Curio and Relics License Forum. That fits well in General Discussion.

One guy wants a forum for old military rifles. That fits well in the Rifle Forum.

You want a Forum for single shot handguns with long barrels.

Have the Moderators been hassling you about posting such things here?

This isn't my house, I am just a guest. But my opinion, if it were asked for, is that I don't want to have to page through 100 different forums to read new posts.
 
I tend to agree with AR, and look what excessive fragmentation has done to a lot of other boards (shooters.com prime example).

Besides I may not be interested in that type of handgun at the moment, but I'm sure a lot of folks have got thier interest going in different types of shooting by seeing threads that strike them about topics they would never visit if it was in a separate forum.

Posting in a main area also alows you access to the knowledge of all the people interested in Rifles or Handguns not just those currently interested in that particular nich at that time. One of the best sources I found for M1 carbine info was a guy who was only interested in AR's or Glocks at the moment but had spent years fooling with the little carbine and occasionally chimed in what he discovered during his years with the baby when it caught his eye.

Personally, I would be interested in long range handgun, but from reading a lot and a long time here -- I don't think there would be enough for only the rifle caliber, wildcat, single shot, UNLESS, it also included those of us who shoot, .38 Specials, Makarovs, S&W 41s, Blackhawks, etc. at 100 yards and more.

As I see it, those of us who do shoot "regular guns" at irregular distances could interract with those of you who shoot "super pistols" at similar distances. I used to compete some, over twenty years ago; with my Blackhawk against single shot and bolt action pistols, so I think that just as we competed together -- we could post together.

That's my opinion and it's worth at least what you paid for it. ;)
 
I've a .309 JDJ Contender set-up & it is toot sweet. Had a .410/.45 Colt bbl for 2+ years & finally slapped it on & played with it a bit & will be loading for the .45 side of it.

Having been at TFL for awhile, I saw that it took quite a while for the 3X handgun forums to split into what they are now - I do like the current format. Nice to be able to "kinda pick 'n choose" for what you want to lurk for ....

I'm thinking that if a lot of posts start getting generated about TCs, etc., that, in time, it may behoove the mods, etc. to split 'em up a bit more.

I personally don't see enough posts about 'em to justify another whole forum.

handgunhunting, start posting (I'll play) & let's see where it goes.

I'd like to hear a bit more about your .375 & I'll yak it up about my .309 Did shoot a bud's .375 JDJ (had it rebbl'd from a .35 Rem = much nicer) & that puppy rocks.
 
Do they come packaged that way like neopolitan ice cream? :D I'll take a triple scoop please. :D
 
Are you talking about a new forum on TFL for specialty handguns or a new web site that has forums on specialty handguns? If it's the first, then it belongs here. If not, it could go back to General Handguns.
 
I have asked TFL to start a new forum for specialty/hunting handguns. I was told if I could show an interest in this topic they will "revisit my request".
The reason I posted in general handguns is so people that are looking for handgun topics will find it easy and hopefully support this new forum. not everyone reads sudgestions questions and feedback.

My stats show that the Suggestions page is accessed quite often.....not as much as Handguns, but real brisk traffic here. Your thread is a Suggestion. This is the Forum in which it belongs.

As you know I have already posted the suggestion for a new forum in the suggestion and feedback forum. When I posted this topic in the general forum I was asking the members of the board what they think. Not giving another suggestion. I never said someone was trying to sandbag me. You asked me to post a few topics and see what happens I did so then I find them being moved. I just simply asked them be placed back where I put them.

I think I see a misunderstanding here.

I believe that the original suggestion that you "post a few topics and see what happens" didn't mean that you should post a question like, "who would be interested in such a forum" like you did in the General Handguns Forum. That type of thread rightly belongs here in S,Q&F.

I believe that the meaning of the original suggestion was that you should post a few threads about specialty handguns in the General Handguns Forum and see how well they are received. Go ahead and post a thread about the Contender, the Rem.xp 100, the Stalker and other competition/hunting handguns. If they get a lot of responses and there become enough of them, we will revisit the issue of whether or not they deserve a forum of their own.
