Sorting brass and weighing finished loads

You don't buy those unprimed cases new from the manufacturers, do you?

No I don't and 30 years ago I didn't. I purchased the boxes of unprimed cases from all available sources. And after that I purchased cases by the thousand. My best sources for cases in the last 20 years has been Pat's Tumbling in Ohio and from friends that have died. And then there are friends that are trying to help another friend.

I have been reloading a long time Started in 1967 . Have I made mistakes yes (we all do) most people will catch a mistake fast and fix it . I have had the no powder thing the no primer thing and the upside down primer thing . If you reload long enough you will make a mistake and that is why we check and recheck all loads .
Keybear's got it right and I started 'rolling my own' 'bout the same time he did. To the OP, we're all amateurs and I see nothing wrong with what your doing. Your weighing each loaded round will probably pick up a double charge too, but brass cartridge cases, depending on caliber can weigh up to several grains in difference even in the same make, tho sorting by head stamp and by lot number should preclude that. I sort mine too, rifle and pistol and have found that it does make a difference in group size. Best Regards, and keep pullin' that handle! Rod
