Sorry in advance, need to vent

it was the gun shop where I ordered my XD45C, they were letting me know that it had come in. I told them thank you and that I would be picking it up later, and keeping it on layaway.

it's fine, it will still be there. I had to wait 2 weeks for mine to come in. It's WELL worth a patient wait.

I understand your pain. Have the same thing going on with new reloading equipment. It's just so hard to have patience. Merry Christmas!

You're whole scheme is wrong Dinsmore. I buy my wife a gun a month. Most of them she doesn't like and these go in the safe pending some sort of eventual disposition.:D

woke up today feeling better, my wife is happy I didn't just run out and get it, and it means more time to build up the ammo supply for the first range trip 250 rounds and counting...

(Kosher) Food for Thought

You know the Hannakuh is before Christmas, is an EIGHT day observance and Charleton Heston was Moses!

Now, I'm Catholic and a big fan of ol' J.C., but I see no harm in observing the holy days of others.:D

We Gentiles are missing out by not honoring the old book.

Eight Days:
1 Xd
2 Fmj ammo
3 Targets
4 Range time
5 Cleaning supplies
6 HP ammo
7 Surefire Light
8 Serpa Holster

Then a week later we give praise to our Lord by spending money on more gifts
and watching TV... some go to church, too.

Sorry, but I do not feel your pain.

Stop whining and take your wife to someplace nice for dinner and get over it.

You do not have a problem.

I bought my Sig and my AR-15 online while I was overseas and had to wait 6 months to get them. The wait was woth it though, you'll be fine :D

Oh and your wife not only tolerates, but encourages your gun habit?!
Where'd you meet? Does she have a sister?? j/k

I really dont know what the problem is since as you say you are getting the gun as a gift.

Thats fine with most guys, unless you are simply complaining cuz you want a new wife as well

See all the problems having a wife brings you? Get a divorce, buy some extra soap for the shower, and buy all the guns you want, whenever you want.

All too often you can't have both- a wife you don't have to lie to or hide things from and a gun collection- and when they approach equality of value, you have to go with your gut.

+ 1 on sisters....

If you have any sense you will not spend that cash you saved on ammo or other gun stuff. Buy something really nice for your wife. That is called long term planning and it could save your happy home.

Don't listen to these guys, most of whom have driven off their women long ago..oh wait, that's me, but at least I learned something.

dinsmore83, I got the flip side of your coin here :D

My husband has been drooling over a Taurus 1911 for a few years now. I finally got the cash together to get one and he still doesn't know. As soon as it does get here I plan on taking him in to the loacal pawn shop just to look around.
Everything is already worked out with the owner of the pawn shop, but I want it here now so I can give it to him.

This is a fun thread,,,

I'm reading and cracking up at the same time,,,

It's been almost 14 years since I had to "negotiate" with a spouse.

I do remember sitting down and thinking:
A box of ammo and some time in the desert,,,
Or a new halter for the wife's favorite equine companion.

The horse always won out,,,

So if I had a wife who was going to buy me a handgun,,,
I would make danged sure that she got something she liked as well.

Fortunately for me,,,
My girl-friend likes to shoot.

Our idea of a hot date is a picnic basket and a day at the range,,,
We usually have a shootout with our .22's to see who pays the range fee.

The lady can channel Annie Oakley,,,
She never lets me win!

A Very Merry Christmas to you all,,,
And may Santa's toy bag,,,
Smell like Hoppes #9.

Aarond

I'll admit that I am a lucky devil. Just yesterday my first and only wife of 28 years suggested I go buy some ammo.

Last week she thought I should buy an AR !

No, she meant with my money.

LOL, reading all the replies has been great entertainment for me. The wife is actually getting exactly what she wanted for Christmas, then a few more things. I am looking back on that day, and I think that the fact my little "tantrum" entertained my wife so much was the reason it happened in the first place.

I think she's awesome, and since I got her hooked on shooting, it probably won't be long until the XD is "our" gun:eek: but maybe I'll get her a little revolver to satisfy her, since she seems to like them, and ofcourse I could borrow that.

I only ow about $100 on the gun, so she's not killing herself finishing off the payment, but at the same time, it is interesting watching her figure out how to surprise me with something I know is coming!:D
