When I first saw this I thought the response was a little rough as well. I think gun forums do us all a valuable service with a reasonable amount of grammar, spelling and punctuation policing though. We have too much of an undeserved image problem already as gun owners. When Bob and Mary from Seattle, or whoever, discovers this forum and takes a peek at some of the posts, seeing that articulate and literate people own guns, maybe even a lot of guns, can be a very good thing for us all.

Now, if we could just tone down the bathroom gun and carrying three backup guns plus knife and six magazines for each gun. ;)

I would actually like to invite some people from work to TFL and THR (.us and .org) but I don't 'cause I know there is still enough of that talk here to make some of them never look at me quite the same for lurking around here a lot and posting at times.

jimmyjohnsonjr, if you're sincere, and I'm actually not certain that you are, have your grandson download and install one of the free spell checkers for your browser.

If no PM was sent, I would agree. Of course, for all we know, one was sent and ignored. Or not. I hope the situation will be resolved and the OP has a nice long life here.

"I've seen a mod or two reply to a grammar thread with a sentence fragment or a dangling modifier. What's that old saying about people who live in glass houses?"

Ludicrous.

Contrary to what some people apparently think when they get themselves all cranked up, we do NOT demand grammatical perfection here at TFL.

What we do want to see is a little EFFORT.

And when I say a little effort, that's really about all that it takes to make at least a stab at using capital letters, basic second grade sentence construction, and rudimentary punctuation.

We don't expect everyone to write like Faulkner or Steinbeck.

At the same time, we simply won't accept someone writing as if they have a railroad spike sticking out of their forehead simply because they're lazy.

Well stated Mike

That is stating it pretty clearly. There can be and usually is a learning curve for new members. Thanks for all of your hard work to make this one of the best firearms sites on the web. Jim

Before posting negatively towards the mods. please read jjj`s newer thread intitled ' got a PM & will be improving my writing'.

Doesn`t seem as though jjj was as much offended by Mal H`s responses as some other members here on TFL. From jjj`s later response`s to Mal H, jjj took Mal H`s comments in a positive way and is working on his computor skill`s.
Many KUDO`S to you jjj.

My computor literacy is very limited. I realize that and I wouldn`t feel bad if I where told by the mods., especially after attempts to help me, that my post`s would be deleted if not readable. I`d do the same as jjj and learn better computor skills. Thanks mods. for being as lenient as you are.

Finally, since this was between Mal H and jjj, I vote that this thread be closed as the rest of the comments are just wasted bandwidth.

Amen brother. Let's get to more important topics. Surely someone will come along soon and tell us all why the 9mm FMJ is the shizzle, or why the .177 pointed pellet is sufficient for culling Walrus with proper shot placement :)

Agreed. And so the "ayes" have it. This thread is closed. On with the handgun discussions.
