Soon to be first time buyer. Looking for suggestions.

Beyond being safe by ALWAYS considering every gun to be loaded at all times and never pointing a gun at anything you don't want to kill or destroy, you need to become familiar with all the workings of your particular weapon. The rest of "training", except perhaps for defensive training, can be learned by watching a few Jerry Miculek videos. Unless you have money to burn, don't go looking for a class because you need a better grip technique.

The 75 is a great option, you also may like to check out the CZ p-09, accurate, 19 rounds mags, reliable, and all at a great price.

IMHO the poly CZ have a better feel when it comes to the grip.

You also may want to check out the M&P's great reliable and a great feeling grip at a pretty good price.

More and more as time passes I realize how lucky I was to have a friend who took me to the range the first time, gave me some safety instruction, and let me try all her guns, starting with a .22 and going right through .380s (2), .38 (1 and .38 special ammo only), 9 mm (3), and .45 (1). I know most people won't be that lucky and need to rent to try such a spectrum and that enough rentals could add up to the price of a gun, but I still think the advice to try a bunch before you buy is the best.

That said, my friend still lets me try anything new she has, and she's done a lot of trading, selling, and buying in the last year since I started shooting. She let me try her CZ 75B SA, and I immediately fell so in love I couldn't get one of my own fast enough. And once I got my own, nothing changed. It's the first 9 mm I don't mind the recoil on (yes, I'm recoil sensitive, I'm an old broad and didn't start shooting until last year). I'm fond of my Sig P238, which was my first purchase, but I swear the CZ is so accurate I sometimes think it has some target sensor in the front sight or the muzzle, and that's exactly how my friend's CZ is too.

Good luck with your search and decision. I know all about not having the funds to just buy one after another. I too needed to be certain I'd like something before buying.

The CZ 75b is amazing. probably one of the least recoiling guns i can think of due to its low bore axis. and talk about accurate its one of the best. can be had for around $500. its a great value

CZ75b
Sig Saur 2022

I have both of these. They are both fine values. The CZ is probably the one you would keep forever once you owned it.

The Sig could easily "'live" in a car or boat with no worries.

The 9mm is the best caliber choice.
Shoot safely.

Gun buying is a personal choice. what I may like in a gun, you may not. If you can not fire a lot of guns, at least try to hold a lot of different guns.

If you are open to getting a concealed weapons permit, I would go with a medium size gun, (Ruger SR9c, Taurus PT 111 G2, etc). I would not go with a high dollar gun, as the hobby may be something that is fun while it is new, but may not be a long term thing for you.
