Stopped by Gander and the gunsmith said my Ruger 77 MkII / Boyds stock rifle is being worked on (pillar and glass bedded).

Man, I can't wait!!! :p

Been following your progress on your project,Looks nice hope everything works out. I have a 77MKII in 25-06 that needs some TLC. thinking on the same project except mine needs a barrel also.

Warbird I have followed you on this project from the get go, I certianly hope it shoots up to your expectations, or better.

I'll probably get it tomorrow (Friday) but won't get to shoot it this weekend as the wife is getting a new hip and I'll be spending time in the hospital. Oh boy. :(

I've also been waiting for results on this project. Hope the first range test comes out well. Also hope the wife's hip heals quickly. Keep us posted.

Keep us posted on when you get it back WBL, and best wishes to the wife also. I hope she makes a safe and quick recovery.

You could both come up to my neck of the woods; the closest hospital is about 10 minutes from a gun range. (Which is kind of funny given that the borough that I live in only has one hospital and one indoor range and the borough is bigger than some of the lower 48 states.)

Looks like this weekend you both get to be "patient"!

Wishing your wife a successful procedure and recovery.

Stopped by today (Friday) and it's still not done yet but that's okay. I'd rather they take their time and do it right instead of rushing it through.

Later... MUCH later...

Stopped by again today (Thursday, March 1st) and they've been working on it almost two weeks. They have got the pillars in it and it will be done next week. The 7th week of their 4-6 week estimate. Must be doing a hell of a good job though! :D

Meanwhile..... I'm going frickin NUTS!!!

Been following warbird and the question begs to be asked....what in the world takes so long to pillar and bed a rifle? And the pillars are in and it won't be done till "next week"? What are they using 10 day epoxy?

Maybe they need to learn a thing or two from the folks that worked on your wife's hip? Or is she still waiting on the "ten day epoxy" too? (Hoping that that all turned out well!)

They must be using that slow cure product :). Hope the Mrs. is doing well. Warbird ya know we feel your pain, but these comments are just something we have to do:D

My guess is that he is not their only customer. It's not that it necessarily takes that long to do the job, just that they are doing other jobs for other people at the same time, and that all adds up to a slower return for everybody... just the nature of the beast in any service related business. That being said, however, I am really looking foreward to reading about the final results... and don't forget the pictures!!:)

(Wife hip is going well)...

They told me there was a 4-6 week wait up front.

And after making the 20 mile trip yesterday and being told next week who do you think called this morning saying my gun was done? So went and picked it up. $189.85 for pillar bedding, glass bedding and free floating the barrel. Tomorrow we will know!!

:D

YES!!! CHA-CHING my friend!!!!
Try it out at the range and give us the ultimate report back .

I'll be waiting for your results, that is if the storms and tornados dont blow me away here today and tonight!
Later,
John

I'm going to have to dig myself out of a snow bank here. But snow doesn't hurt you like tornados. We haven't started our tornado season yet.

Warbird, first our prayers are with your wife, hope she gets on her feet with little efforts.
189.85 for a Glassbeded action, pillar bed, and freefloat??? thats cheap enough who's doing the work?

Also when you first purchased that Boyds' you'd never thought you were going to go through this did you?
On a related note, I purchased a B&C synthetic for my Savage 110, and the reviews I studied told as there was some need to minor inletting for my action,,,well not really minor, no matter how much material I removed the action still wouldn't "slip" right into the stock. After sending it back to Dodge City, (the factory) they sent it back and said "it fits fine", it's going to be a "lamp stand" for my shop desk I supposed, but I spent like 150.00 or so, that would buy some powder primer and bullets!!
