Some thoughts on online ammo merchants...

I use the following for my 9 mm supply:
MAH Supplies MAHSupplies.net
Cheaper Than Dirt Cheaperthandirt.com
Ammunition to go Ammunitiontogo.com

At MAH Supplies you cannot order an item if it is not in stock. This is a feature I really like. Maybe a down side to them is you have to email or fax or mail a copy of your drivers license before your first order with them can ship. After that, future orders are shipped out that day or at worst the following day.

Prior to the start of reloading, I used Sportsmans Guide and was able to find some pretty good deals. I joined the club to get 5% off ammo (10% of everything else) and combined with their $10 coupons (so shipping is nearly free) it's been a good deal for the last couple of years.

Good tips...

Thanks for the good tips.

My antivirus software sent those tracking cookies packing,

I will look at some of the online ammo merchants that were mentioned by you guys.

Another ammo supplier to consider is Sportsman Guide, at
www.sportsmanguide.com

I've gotten lots of ammo from them; shipping is a little slow IMHO, but the prices are very good. If they don't have it in stock it's made apparent right away. Each order gets a coupon for $$ off your next order, and the selection is pretty good. I've accumulated enough coupons that I can get the shipping free (4 boxes of ammo was $10.49 shipping, coupon was $10 off).

Been very happy with SG for ammo if you don't want it in 3 days or less

Should cure the problem.

I delete my browsing history every half hour or so while on the internet. Makes the computer faster, and I don’t like those tracking cookies either.

Prior to the start of reloading, I used Sportsmans Guide .....
Sportsmans Guide can be a royal pain in the butt with all their silly shipping "rules".

They refused to ship lead bullets (not even live ammo) to me, even after going up the chain. They said they were not allowed by law to send anything scary to my zip code (I live in a very rural area with the closest thing to a medium sized city nearby, over an hour and a half away). Its news to me, everyone else never has any troubles doing so.

Unfortunately, the lawyers seem to be in control of the shipping department.

Ive called in a number of pretty big (dollar wise) orders over the years, and intentionally added one of the restricted items, and then told them forget the whole thing when they said they could ship everything but "that". Oh well, one of these days they are going to say yes and I'll have a stroke when I have to pay up. :)

I don't buy ammo online. I buy from my local FFL most of the time or at Wall-Mart if they have what I am looking for.

If the FFL does not have what I am looking for I have them order it for me.

I ordered from ammotogo.com when I couldn't find any .22 Mini-Mag ammunition. They beat the local gun shops by $3.50 per 100 rounds. The shipping wasn't too much and delivery was really quick.

Of course having the package dropped off near my driveway with huge stickers proclaiming the contents to be small arms ammunition was a bit disconcerting.

I use only doubletap in my edc pistol and doubletap.com has the best prices. Fast shipping and pre-show if ammo is in stock or not. I just received a box from the brown truck yesterday;

I've ordered ammo from both Midway and SG Ammo in the past, but it has always been just a few boxes of premium SD ammo that was difficult or impossible to find locally. For bulk range ammo, online vendors usually cannot beat what I can get locally, particularly once shipping is added to the equation.

I've only ordered from ammoman.com I've been real happy with their service.

I'll have to look into some of these other sellers you guys use - but I compared Cabelas and Sportsmans Guide to Ammoman, and what I found was that when you added shipping costs and divided by the number of rounds received, the per round cost was consistently lowest with ammoman.

(But what was said about ammoman offering only a limited selection is also true - fortunately, I'm looking for the type of range ammunition they're selling. If I were looking for more exotic hunting or SD stuff, chances are likely they might not have it.)

cheapest ammo i have found are from two places

first is the-armory.com
they kill you on shipping, but the price is still lower than even jgsales, even after shipping.

second is gunbroker. there is a guy on there who sells ammo with free shipping. unfortunately, a lot of guys know this secret. however, occasionally you can sneak an auction out at a ridiculous price. find seller sportsmansupply. here are his auctions.

I've used Natchez and also Wideners for lots of ammo purchases. Find their prices better than Cabella or Midway. Both do a great job.

Dang it! Georgia arms appears to be all out of the 9mm canned heat and .38 special. Ive never ordered from them but sounds like a good deal and I could really use the tins. the seem to be out of stock on most calibers actually.

is this common for them? how long does it usually take them to re stock on the canned heat deals?

Sportsman's Guide for me. You know if it's in stock before you order it. If you are a club member ($35/year) then you get their weekly special emails. About once a month they offer free shipping for $99+ orders so that's when I order the ammo. They always send a $10 off your next order and often have ammo sales or specials. Bottom line is you can get your club savings (5%) from an advertised sale item and throw in free shipping and $10 off and the cost is as good as anywhere for factory ammo. Someone said the shipping is slow. I disagree. I order on Sunday and Wednesday it's at my door.
