Some Rust On My 1941 Mosin Nagant

Adding a spring and washer kit I came across this center bottom of the barrel. Any suggestions on slowing down this rust. Haha so much for my pictures that exeed so many bytes of i dont know what. Any how about a dime in size with pited rust on the surface. I thought of sanding and spray painting with enamel.

Fine bronze or steel wool, rub with oil...
You will need to keep it well oiled, even then it will not stop it's progression (you can't "get to it" in the pits) but will keep it manageable.

Clean it regularly and store it in a warm, dry, place.

Once you clean up the rust with steel wool I would coat it in CLP.
